Thank you for this Erni. When I was preparing the material for your feature I began to try to trace the origins of the various Erni Baer stamps (some very nice). It proved to be hopeless within the given time frame (May is winding down). Often the stamps are reworked & reintegrated into different art. Catherine Petre, yes! She has been scarce.

I also need to add that many of these EB stamps have made their way to Cohen's Brain Cell.

Definitely Erni, Ruud Janssen founded the Erni Baer Fan Club, as you would not do such a thing yourself. And Grigori Antonin had already started a similar effort, I think. So people wanted it. I put Ruud Janssen's name in the Fanzine as I believe he deserves credit for designing this stamp:

If I started DKult - well, better to say DKult-New York formed and got the ball rolling.

PS: Don't give them money! How do you think they came to be able to afford all that high tech stuff.

People who have been involved in mail-art for a while know the network is actually full of new religions, prophets, cults, fan clubs. One of the better known is The Church of the Subgenius, which is still around & doing well it seems. You could not avoid getting their stuff at a certain point in time, but I think they grew out of the network. I think it started in Texas. Very strange. I could never determine exactly who they are. Anyone remember The Church of the Subgenius?

Geez, yeah Diane, this is totally open to anyone who wants to participate. I'll take anything. The last month was filled with people stamping their foreheads with things & emotional D-Konversions. The place to find all that is on the threads of the Trashpo group. Such as, I think this is Alicia:

Rivalry and competition are so 3D. I like to think DKult is somewhere around 4ish to 5 D and I KNOW Erni is way up in the double digits!!!!!  We are only ever competing with ourselves. off soap box now just slipped-Steph Dodson drew the bubbles. Zines usually have inserts so that would be interesting to have free garbage in the 'centerfold' no ref to Snook's exhibitionist dog

Fantastic Erni - red star Havana from the Hamburg Street? I'm honored.

Angie - HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Oh - we had an online discussion about how to cover the tats in the Fanzine. You weren't there? Now, OK, Erni's fans can be racey, as we see. But Snooker's Full Monty - I never know what to do. Thanks for posting it now!

The concept of the DKULT TRASHPO FANZINE is to make a retro version of the quirky, downhome fanzines people circulated in mail-art before blogs took over. Blogs are great but don't capture a lot of the qualities. You'd have, usually, some person in a basement and a few diehard supporters, totally committed to some crazy thing, making the zines. And they'd throw all this strange stuff in as filler or whatever they received in the mail or plagiarized - it's a kind of aesthetic.

Problem, is, you can't be inclusive the way you can with blogs. I had to make some choices, but please post anything here you think should have been included in the May issue. And during the month, send me stuff you want in the zine - via snail or email (for cut & paste).

What I did discover was how much amazing "memorabilia" the Erni Baer Fan Club has produced. It rivals the DKult. I could only sample a small bit. It is well worth going through the threads in that club to see all the art - same goes for DK's Trashpo group too.

Erni,

I saw something really cool yesterday-a lady made glasses and planters out of wine/liquor bottles in which she sawed off the tops and smoothed the lip over. simple yet beautiful idea.

I'm thinking Angie's DKult Dog Victory Shot and Erni's topless fans might need their own "Explicit" version--DKult tries to keep it family friendly. Kids are merely told that sometime KDJ is 'sleepy'.  KDJ never received a Demotion, that was Dean Marks. The memories are still painful and raw. I hope you will also eventually include Thom's historic knitted saffron toga. It's a bit hot for that right now, but he's working on a 'breathable' option.
