Genki people, I missed you too much, I couldn't be without you for very long. I received a LOT of mail art last week and I don't know if I will have time to blog it all, but here is a copy-paste from last week's Marie's Mailbox blog. Sorry it is a bit long but I didn't want to post three separate blogs.

Bound by Life (chopped up and happier now, she says) - from Cheryl Penn

Another very successful chop by Cheryl Penn. I'm always looking for things to chop up like she does but I tend to forget that before being able to do so one first has to create. Cheryl and Lesley Magwood Fraser worked on a collaborative book called Bound by Life. From this book a new idea was born, a second book in the series, Just One day, Bound by Life - 12 December 2008. The book was made by photographing pages from the original book and cutting out newspaper articles from that day's Daily News.
A little more than three years later the book was taken apart. Three years is a rather long life for a book in Cheryl's house. She says it is probably happier now, unbound. I'm not sure, but I'll believe her.

La France va bananes, presque - from Dean Marks

France goes bananas, nearly. Have you noticed how directly translated idioms come out really funny? Anyway... Dean has once again outdone himself with this piece. I am so impressed by his deep understanding of French culture. France's obsession with cheese, of course, is well known. But what we really are best at, best in the world, I'd say, even better than producing cheese, is striking. And he got that too. I hope you can see the text, because it's a great story. A true story of how the French (almost, but not quite, very french) invented banana cheese as cheese number 366 in view of leap year 2012. Because having only 365 cheeses would be a total disaster, of course. A story of how milking bananas to produce the precious banana milk got completely out of hand and ended up in strikes all over the country. The story doesn't mention, but there were talks of a revolution, le printemps des bananes. Some people already polished their guillotines in anticipation. But please read it all, it's full of gems and twists à la Dean. Thank you for sending, I love it! (if I can't keep my bananas in the fridge can I keep them in the freezer?).

Fantastic Arty Slides from Katerina Nikoltsou

Arty slides are the new hip thing. Those are the first ones in my mailbox, and I have to say they look just great! Katerina used some of the material from a card I had sent her to recycle into those slides, adding her own touch to it, and it worked so perfectly well. All of them come with a different design on both sides. Katerina, that's a great job, I love them all, so tiny and cute and arty. Thank you for sending!

I'm sure you will be, Fancy Bell. The problem for me is making before being able to chop. And you're right, if it looked as good as this I probably wouldn't have the guts to chop. Velly, any time! :-)) Carina, for sure this looked very much like Christmas!
