Gracing my Mailbox: Mail Art Martha, Amy Irwen, and Claudia McGill

I received my first ever mail art from Mail Art Martha. She writes of this 'alcoholic trashpo'  "The evening at a cafe I asked th waiter for the capsule from the wine bottle. I had to explain why I wanted it and he understood so well that he brought me all the capsules he could collect wile we were there. A patron of the arts for sure!"The next piece is "sea worn leaflet with glass and tile pieces"  I LOVE beach glass and the composition of this trashpo is so soothing. Reminds me of Kat's pieces. She has added gold to both of these pieces she says as to say "Rubbish is as valuable as one cow as half a dead cow in a glass case." I've never heard that expression but I will be sure to interject that into the next conversation I have. Thank you thank you Martha--I love both of these pieces!!! I also received a fantastic fabric stitched quiltwork piece from Amy Irwen. I think I might have nearly begged for one, not really sure, but I am glad if I did. It's calming with the earth tones and even methodical stitching. I think it has some hypnotic powers. I was also thrilled to receive a piece from Claudia-who is working injured yet still creating these great abstract pieces. This one is sans the furniture people and no less interesting and powerful. I love her color combinations and I feel like Claudia creates with a huge sense of freedom. So interesting seeing everyone's different styles. Thank you all so much for sharing your talents with me.

semantics Vizma, it's all semantics  we get down and dirty to purge the garbage from our souls-we polish the blackness from our hearts, we transform nonethingness into somethingness creating an alchemical reaction of cosmic proportions (actually the size of a standard p ostcard) Trashpo is definately a state of mind. The cosmic meatwheel vision was pivotal in DKult turning vegan. The souls of all those angry animals descended upon the complex and we all had the same collective dream in which they exclaimed, 'We'd rather be roadkill than eaten by you!"

Huh? I thought it was about getting down and dirty in the dumpsters, then making art from the crap we find. One of us is seriously wrong. Where's DK?

My understanding is that Trashpo is about purity of mind, body & spirit. DK is a Holy Vessel of the Cosmic Meatwheel Vision & so should we be.

Tragedy DV? What tragedy??

Total stunners from beginning to end. Martha reveals what we always knew: She's a Trashpo All-Star. I'm glad she  brought up the issue of the tragedy of excessive drinking among Trashpoets. Can DKult be far behind with the DKult Trashpo Rehab Klinik?

And woh, Claudia's work continues to take my breath away.

Thanks for posting these, DK.

claudia, my two-bit analysis:  I think you are trying to beautify something otherwise ugly and on par with strips malls and drive-thrus. I think you see it as a gross mis-use of resources and feel the need to advocate for the trees in the world. So I see you as a tree hugger/environmental activist/natural born trashpoet, and of a Japanese mentality in which they respect all things including inanimate objects knowing that everything has consciousness from rocks to water. Now, the cow phrase I can not analyze, but the thought of half a cown in a display case is not one I will forget anytime soon

ooh, alcoholic trashpo, what an inviting concept! That would suit my house very well, Mail Art MARTHA!! And I love that mailbox stamp!

Great haul, Diane!

Martha-your trashverse is fantastic and however it was said-I THINK I got the jist of it sorta the bird in hand is better than two in the bush. Yours is much more interesting and strange. It's funny too-because you could tell me anything and pass it off as a Brittish saying and I'd never know:)I'm still so amazed that the waiter was so innately understanding of trashpo--he should be recruited to the group!!

I must say that the other two pieces are so very good, there are more po than trash! Superb.

Oh dear, I am sorry, the expresion 'as one cow as half a dead cow in a glass case' was meant to read ' as half a dead cow in a glass case ' It refers to the work of Damien Hirst and I first thought it was a whole animal and then I remembered it was sawn in half. So I corrected it, not properly it seems. You haven't heard it before because it is all mine and perhaps it could be considered oral trashpo. I am glad you liked my first efforts, I shall persevere.
