Oh dear, I'd forgotten about my blog here!

Seriously, I'd forgotten all about this blog. I do a blog consistently on the blogger platform, which is probably why I forgot about this blog space. Well, HELLO old blog! Glad to meet you again.

I've just finished up my third 365 Mail Art project on 31 Dec. 2013. Whew. It was good but I was glad it was done. Now I've been making mail art, but differently. Sometimes none, and some days several at once. And I'm not scanning and posting it all, which takes the pressure off BUT I will…

365

I'm embarking on Mailart 365 this January 1st/14.  My greatest challenge isn't making mail art, or sending it out, but documenting and blogging anything about what is sent (or received).  I've thought a lot about this, and my only conclusion is to just fucking do it already.  I feel bad that I haven't posted about some of the amazing pieces I've received, and do intend to get to them at some point.  For now staying on topic and posting my art online regularly is the challenge.  I'm sure at…

First Stamp Mail Art received from Miss Thundercat, Nederland

Is this my first Mail Art from Nederland? Think so. Miss Thundercat sent this colourful stamped envelop. She is only two pieces away from halfway of the 365-project. Proficiat!

The composition is beautiful and the combination of colours as well. In…

Limner Mail Art #21, Sexy Back

There's nothing boring about mail art. So, the front of an envie should be just as sexy as the back. I want to push the envelope a little bit more, so I've decided to add a short story or story bits to the backs of mine, once in a while. Then I can say, "Um, the post office published one of my short stories." Then, too, maybe recipients will be less inclined to toss my letters. Well, maybe.…

JJalltheway Continues Along The Mail Art Road

JJ is fast approaching 1,000,000 pieces of mail art - at her own pace.  She recently sailed past me and  joined the 365 Honors Group.  That's the group that actually has completed 365 in 365 days.  Check it out!  Most members of the group continue to create mail.  If you are not a mail art addict (many already were), you will be by the time you complete the 365 marathon.

I have been a lucky recipient of more than a few, of these JJ gems.  She has the knack of putting…

Mim's scraps and stamp

I was the very lucky recipient of the MAILART 365 stamp that Mim offered as a prize to those of us still making mailart every day for a year once she had finished. Not only did I get the stamp, I also got a wonderful jiffy bag full of precious scraps.  I pulled out some of the scraps one by one and laid them down on the scanner randomly and this is what I got when I download…

Postcard no. 288 from Mim, she's getting there!

A wonderful minimal work: The slicing or carrying that's happening to the alphabet here really appeals to me. The shapes and the spots of color along with it make for an extra nice composition. I love it, and always love her address side too, with "official" stamps: …

From Cheryl Penn, Sandra Granthon, and JJalltheway

Following Cheryl's example when blog is backed up: Very late to the blog due to a mix-up, this is Cheryl's fabulous Ghostwriter Part 4, which knocked my sox off when I opened it. It says: "He was CERTAIN the link was Durers self portrait -- The likeness was unmistakable" and "The manuscripts revealed NOTHING" and "Bound by Betrayal. No-one he could trust." Plenty ghostly, the…

Min from Mim!

Received from Mim Golub Scalin, "Minimal 3 + graphite": Shortly before this arrived, I was admiring Mim's photos section, which at the moment was carrying what appeared to be a series of which this is a part.  Big surprise when the postman showed up!  Very appealing collage, and my scanner is sorry that it doesn't do orange well, damn thing. Thank you so much, Mim!
