Received from Richard Canard, USA--Goose Island Classic

Richard does have a point. He always has a point, a thought to ponder. Let's not stockpile anything. Let's run out of stuff and see what that feels like. Liberated, if we're lucky. Richard also sent me some terrific buffalo logos:…

Lines from Frieder Speck

A few days ago I asked Frieder about a special kind of quill (?) with five forks, used in other times to draw the five lines for music notes. I have such a pen and couldn't draw more than 2 centimeters ... So he sent me an example with drawn lines and a little picture of a pet. It's wonderful like everything Frieder draws.

Stamp from E (France)

Above you see the upperside of the stamp that E carved for me from FOAM. Below you can see how the carving looked like. Off course I has to test the printing (see other photo) on a first set of envelopes that is going out today.

Received from Cheryl Penn, South Africa--Third Eye

A face that is all about features. A third eye to be exact. The eye that sees inward and knows that she is becoming. When I received this piece from Cheryl I looked at it for a long time. I'm still studying it. Somehow, the features remain balanced and I think that… Continue

INVESTIGATIVE REPORT: Is Trashpo Destined for the Dumpster of History? Erni Baer (Germany), Diane Keys (USA), Stewart Charlebois (Canada), Thom Courcelle (USA)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Erni Baer (Hamburg, Germany)

October 14, 2011 - Recent challenges to the very foundation of Trashpo have raised serious questions about whether this practice will endure in the eternal network. Issues…

Received from Diane Keys, Svenja Wahl, Jen Staggs

Big surprise in my mailbox. My first DK mail, yeeey! Two postcards on carboard. Could it even be very personalized mail? Did DK see my Chance/Choice picture and is sending a reply to it? Is it Chance or is it Choice? The characters on both cards are all blinded with the word Chance, Kings of which Kingdom, we will never know. The cards include numbers of…

Off Cut Oracle - from Lesley Magwood Fraser

Lesley is sending me a very precious little book. A book full of Wisdom. I keep turning its pages, I keep asking questions with the hope of a Revelation. Who knows. It looks like this boekie could tell me a few things indeed. Each page unique, minimal (minimalist? I never know the difference), full of treasures. I'll let you appreciate it's beauty through the…

From Richard Canard: cerealism and philosophy

It is an honor to receive my first mail art from Richard Canard: which features, on the back, some insightful, humorous, and thought-provoking philosophy and truisms about mail art and people: His thoughts here (and everywhere else I've seen some, actually) are…

"Heartbreak Hotel" from Guido Vermeulen

Guido sent this great envelope with a Book of Ann acknowledgment: The windows and doors of Heartbreak Hotel are dancing in the night. Despite heartbreak, all is not lost. I love this piece! Windows are colorful, fragile, mysterious, revealing. Thank you, Guido.

Postcard from Lindall

Thank you, Lindall, for this unexpected and welcome mail art. The collaged face/mask print/stamp (I really know my stuff) and mysterious text with strokes of red really appeal to me. I like the thought-provoking simplicity of the composition. And the…

Inter-trashional (tm Lisa Iversen) mail from Cuan Miles

I am so excited to be getting trashpo from many different coutries. This piece from Cuan has candy wrappers and a complete candy box with tattoos on the front. It all stayed completely intact on it's journey to the US. I love that this looks to be vintage trash.… Continue

Trashpo Master--Neil Gordon

I have never received MA that was made entirely out of trash-backing and all. He writes on the front of the envelope (recycled) "No Trash No Glory" which really says it all.  I'm concluding Neil works in the travel industry as there is much trash relating to cruises… Continue
