Victorian DaDa

Information

Victorian DaDa

DeVillo Sloan inspired me to start this group, and I'd like help defining it, and would love to see other examples besides my own.

This group is dedicated to mail art, perhaps with a time period theme (Pre-Raphaelite, Flapper, Byzantine, Edwardian, even modern day) of an elegant nature spiked with a Dada / Surreal twist.

Elements can be added as creatively as the artist would like.... Or taken out. Nature is prevalent due to the Romantic floral effect and poetry (often cut & paste) is incorporated. An arm or leg can be truncated and repositioned. Woo Hoo!

Or anything you feel like.

Thank you, and hope to see you here!

Xx.

I agree, Neil, a sad mystery. I really dislike it when people just disappear. I, too, hope that she is well. Thanks for the comment, DVS, let those who have an interest in this, carry on. I, meanwhile, keep the pieces that I received from Gin, in a special place. And I say, SURE to Steam Punk.

Thanks DVS, sounds sad, quite a mystery, hope she is well...

It could easily, Neil.

Gin, the group's founder, disappeared months ago. Mim inquired about her. Gin was active on FB and is gone from there as well.

This was her vision. I guess we can try to push ahead in darkness without her, but this was her thing. Her work is the essence of Victorian DaDa.

So it's a ship without a captain, a little like "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner."

Folks should post whatever Victorian DaDa is to them. I think Gin would be happy with that.

Thanks, De Villo Sloan, for seeing if you can find out anything. I'm just wondering, and I keep looking at those returned pieces.

Gin was on FB until at least August 2014. I kept in touch with her until my hiatus in late August through September then, unfortunately, kind of forgot. and lost touch.

She was commenting on many mail-art related posts, although I'm not sure what name she was using.

I'll check FB. I think she is/was friends with other mail-artists.

I've also been wondering. i'm a bit worried about her. just a feeling.
