I just unearthed a stack of fantastic pages of handwritten experiments. Inspired by my love of ledger art and the many talented artist who participated in the Philpott Lake Project (philpottlakeproject.tumblr.com), I am sending out a new mail art call!
So, here is the deal; I will send you a sheet of “the experiment” to alter and send back to me. I will then scan the pieces and post them to themailartexperiment.tumblr.com. I hope to also open a physical exhibit in Virginia in the Fall 2018.
I would like to present the mail art in a clean and cohesive manner, so I have a few more rules than last time. I will only be scanning and displaying the pages themselves. I do not plan to post envelopes or any additional pieces of art. If there is any information that you would like to include (name, date, location, title) please incorporate it into the piece. I would prefer that the pages remain unfolded, in portrait format and unaltered in size.
Enough rules! There will be NO RESTRICTIONS on theme, content or medium, just keep in mind that your art may be displayed in a public place.
If you are interested in participating in The Experiment, please join the group and message me your address. I will send you a page ASAP until I run out. I have roughly 70 pages, so invite your friends! This time around, I hope to produce a Thank You mailing early on in the game, so once I receive something from you, be on the lookout for something from me.
Thank you! I look forward to seeing you in the mail.
