Our friend seems to be confused between a post box, letter box, mail box, shipping box, and botox.  Too much French wine I expect.

My French "post box" in Lyon:

A 2 kilo box that was "posted" with a "post" mark :-)

Does anything make sense in France?

I once came to a road junction that had a sign pointing to the ledt marked 'Toutes directions' and a sign pointing to the right marked 'Autre directions'.

This is in a very small village in France that must get a lot of tourists.  I have never seen anything like this before; Post Cards to the right, All other destinations to the left.  Does this make sense?

called : Chapaize, in the Rhone River valley...
