It complicated but mostly do to bone degeneration in neck and back because asthma med's since a baby..... All intensified about 12 years ago. Mail art is the best therapy! P.T. never did squat for me!

Yup! "This mortal coil" {there was a great punk band in the 80's of that name} I feel the same way... am physically disabled too, changes everything;except the brain! Maybe i'll make some trashpo canes and walkers someday!

Comment by Claire (aka Cleo) on May 6, 2012 at 9:59pm

Thanks Neil! It was all very high-falutin' conceptual - just gone through a physically disabling exp., and wanted to address the duality of this mortal coil, as it were - the prison the body can be, while also the receptacle of brilliance... There's a lot more in the series...maybe I'll post...

Amy, wow - the books are great! Nice idea too! I have a bin for collecting trash for use - have coffee bags in there, but oatmeal I had not thought of!

@ Diane. Thanks. Interesting, never heard the word 'futuristic' used before. Biggest influence is Modernist architecture [my 1st  dream as a child...] In fact though, my style is quite prevalent among art jewelers - in Germany, Australia, the Netherlands and Japan particularly, just not much in Amerika. Work has a tend. to be "pretty" here. [Curators seem to like it though - I even got into the Smithsonian.] I was artist in Res at a jewl. USA/Jewl. International show once, and whereas the Int. was often exceedingly conceptual [art!], the Amer. work was - what you would expect of [trad] jewl. - gold, stones. Material/investment value & 'does it go w/ this dress?' [Must say, I always fnd. it funny/ironic that the 'new world' is so much more trad. in many ways than the 'old world.']

Amazing Cleo-thanks for posting your work I love that it is industrial/futuristic-maybe the world just isn't ready for it. thanks for posting i hope you will show more.

Amy-love the trashbook-would never have thought of using oatmeal packets.

DVS-isn't that the same place as the loan shark guy? I think Jerry Trash also does tattoos there
