ohh, very nice Tiziana!
I agree with you @Heleen - Some people are really rude about not wanting handmade. They're missing out!
@andytgeezer, I agree IUOMA needs a stamp! I bet it would look great :) and I also wonder why Finland doesn't have a postcrossing stamp
Hello! I'm new here on IUOMA, but I started postcrossing in April last year. So far I only sent handmade cards to my pen-friends, but I hope to find the courage to send them to fellow pc-members. :)
Has anyone seen the latest post on the postcrossing blog - Postcrossing has just been honoured with its own stamp!
Strangely, the stamp was released by the Post Office of Holland. Ruud Jansen surely has put Holland on the map for post with IUOMA right? Surely we need a campaign to get IUOMA on a stamp! Postcrossing should be given a Finnish stamp though :-)
I am Postcrossing since more than 2 years, and everytime I receive a selfmade postcard I get extremely happy (though I like all cards, as the senders have been taking time to choose, write and stamp just for me)!
And I like to make cards when people directly mention this in their profile. Some of these became favourited, which of course flatters me.
This is one of the first received mail art cards, an original etch (so I was happily surprised, even amazed when I opened my mailbox!):
Made and sent November 2009 by Talvikki from Finland.
But there are many postcrossers who prefer store-bought cards (so I have a lot of bought cards in stock, now :-) ).
Most of them write in a gentle way that they don't want to receive self-made cards, and I like to choose a card which matches to their profiles as much as possible.
But there is one postcrosser who annoyed me a lot by writing the following:
I still will choose an apt card for her, but my selfmade picture postcard of her most favourite object (this photo I turned into a 'real' postcard by a moo-like company) of course I will send to someone who judges in a more respectful way.
Other postcards I received and which made me very happy are - among others - this fine drawing, this water colour painting, this drawing/collage, and a nice envelope around a regular postcard.
So nice to see so many creative people from all over the world!
That is beautiful Louise.
thanx
