Thanks for the heads up Alan. Seemed like it was too good to be true.  Not been tempted.  I used to get bags of unfranked stamps from the Oxfam shop but sadly they closed a few years back. I didn't feel so bad knowing that some of the money was going to charity.

Beware of discount stamps on Bookface or eBay. A lot of them are too good to be true, either used but uncancelled, or outright forgeries from a big country in the far east. This is the sort of thing which has led Royal Mail to introduce the dreaded barcodes. I'm careful to buy only old stamps with original gum; these are legal.

Oh, my, that is expensive postage for International Mail! About 2.22 Euro? It is 2Euro for a First Class Priority International here in Greece, but no way do I send my mail art "first class", ha! Happily 20 grams in an envelope can still go for 1Euro a broad, abroad :-)...though must agree it is very sloooow snail mail. Happy to learn that the Prince and the Queen will still be seen ..along with that code thing!

Sorry to hear that Martha.  there are discount stamp places 20% off all orders. I keep getting reminders on Facecrack!   Sounds too good to be true!

Yes of course Michael or one of !0p and one of 5 or 15 stamps of 1p!  I am tempted!

To avoid giving the PO any more money than absolutely necessary I always buy enough to get them post free, which means at least £50 worth of stamps so I also tried to buy the necessary amount of £1,85. Guess what? this morning they were still unavailable. Maybe now they are but I am fed up.

Martha - just use three 5p  stamps - you can buy these online .

Oh I see, they can still be used, they're just not sufficient.

BREAKING NEWS

This is the new definitive with the barcode on the side. When scanned it shows an animation of Shaun the Sheep to the lucky recipient of the stamp!

Fancy that, what an improvement!

Alan, I refer to the international stamps of £1.70 that I have bought in bulk. They cannot be used from today unless 15 p is added to make £1.85, the new price. Which means I have to go to the local PO, which as described in my previous post, intails running the gauntlet along a crowd of covid infested humans, 1 in 16 infectious to be precise. It is to avoid this that I buy them on line. And such is the trust the PO has in its own deliveries that they are sent by courier!

I do not imagine that they thought of having a 15p stamp issued.

But Michael, who sees beauty in pylons, didn't you hear there's a new design of pylon out too?

Regarding the new postal rates, I think it's a pity the international rates are no longer exactly 2x and 3x the First Class rate; that was convenient and almost clever. Which 'international stamps' do you mean that can't be used from today, Martha? Pictorial commemoratives continue to be valid indefinitely, so I reckon that pic of Prince Whosit is still OK.

Yes Michael, so sneaky, but I can still use mine. I have quite a lot of second class stamps that can be used until January 2023. It is the international stamps that cannot be used from today, I need to add postage to get to £1.85 (15p up!) Rats, rats, rats! The bother! I have to get to the post office, now at the back of a long, poorly ventilated Covid filled shop! We had a large Post Office but it was sold. Grrrr! Arghfffff... Spit, spat!
