The main reason I chose one of Kurt Schwitters' artworks to represent this group was because he coined the term "merz" which is about, he said, "making connections, preferably between everything in the world."

Awareness of touch, smell, sound, and even taste besides our artist's visual awarenesses is definitely something that is happening since this Haptic Poetry group began. I am so searching for "touch" to "Feeel the Art". 'Started a new series with a new-found-material (in addition to the sandpaper). 'Would not have noticed it all these previous years, but thanks to Bifidus and the gang...OPA! "Feel the Art"!

They "say" whatever you wish them to say :-) You see..you SEE, they are just the lower case of the Greek Alpha-Beta...symbols  (letters)...but not word(s).

λ μ ξ π α .....ω (upside down for fun!) also ι  μ  ν  ξ  π  ρ  ο

Latin characters equivalents:

λ = l    μ= m   ξ= ks    π= p    α= a    ω= oooo (omega...BIG "o")

ι=i    μ=m    ν= n   ξ =ks        π=p     ρ=r      ο= o (omikron...little "o")

See how the "p" is pi and "r" is "p"????

Confusing? It's Greek to me :-) Sooooo, my name is NOT KATEPINA...though

that is how it is written in Greek. It really is "KateRina"! Greek P = R.

It's happy haptic.

I like paint so thick you can feel it, too. Here is a great piece of Haptic mail art from Katerina (compliments of UHU). What does the Greek say?

"Feel the Art" here, too. I am classifying this new piece from Cheryl as "haptic". That is thick, raised paint surfaces in those basic color shapes. Just an open invitation to "feel the art" ! And "SPRING" has "SPRUNG" in South Africa...as they go into Summer down thar! Many thanks, Cheryl, this was a joy in my mailbox today!

"Feel the Art" --that's kind of catchy, Katerina

Oh, gosh, geewhiz, Bifidus..we just LOVE this Haptic Place! Thank you sooo much for generating such a great group
...look what Karen sent! And the pity with the internet is that there is no way to touch this haptic/ascemic piece of art. Karen has created embossed writings, those "marks" are raised and my finger tips can glide across, as with your Braille "marks". Feel the Art!

Warning: mushy, sentimental comment ahead. Just wanted to say how much I appreciate all of you for contributing to this group. And I honestly don't think I would have created the Haptic group without De Villo's encouragement and enthusiasm. The mail art that has been conjured up lately is beyond anything I hoped to experience. It's fun and downright stunning in very individual, Haptic ways.
