there's probably plenty of potential for art-amusement in a facebook status.

it's just another medium.

i avoid facebook because 1) i like pseudonyms, but i can't be a superhero on facebook... :(

and 2) facebook has really bad privacy practices.

i'm waiting for google to up their social media game.

google isn't perfect, but they go a lot farther for end-user rights than facebook / microsoft and many others.

all i'm trying to do - and what i think is so brill about superhero's idea / group / manifesto / movement  - all i'm trying to do is to invite people to have an experience that they might otherwise not have had.

hate it , love it, be bored, laugh...just be. be there and feel something and do something in the real f-ing tangible world for five minutes. think i'm a hack and that anyone can do it - but just go do it then. do something.

life is happening now and it doesn't care about your facebook status so get to work.

i worked doing graphic design and though i felt it was artistic work, i didn't think of it as my art. there was no emotional investment. i didn't even have to like it - just execute it well. it's product.

and honestly, i think there's a lot of product out there masquerading as art. skillfully executed, full of sound and fury and signifying nothing.

@HAVM: i like the mock marketing thing!

it really goes well with my disgust at copyright/trademark/etc.

i don't look at a lot of ads, but i think it's a great idea!

it's like the old political art satire geared toward corporations!

i really think you're onto something, i want to see more!!!

my idea of an artist draws heavily on this link that MLAAC gave me about "ART" versus "FLUXUS ART-AMUSEMENT":

http://www.artnotart.com/fluxus/gmaciunas-artartamusement.html

it's really short and makes a lot of sense to me.

when i boil it all down and extract the contents,

what it speaks to me is "FREE ART."

by FREE, i mean "set loose," "let it out of the cage,"

"get your fucking hands off my art."

or like i said to DVS, "pull the rug from beneath the aristocracy."

i just felt "FREE ART" expressed that idea more concisely.

all the rest of my discourse has been mainly trying to solidify that idea in the greater picture of things. and i've been talking loosely, i'm not really set in stone on most of the opinions i expressed. i'm just trying to share them as they come to me, and hope to invite others to join in. ;-D

I like your comment that one of art's functions can be to welcome people to come out to play, Superhero!
I think it depends on your focus when you sit down to create....righto a starving artist...the problem for me would be that I wouldnt be able to focis, I would get stagefright.t now Im a journalist on hiatus who wants to be an artist as opposed

I have a hard time even thinking of what is an artist..becuase the label has soo much range to it..

Our back and forth..I think it would be fun..to Mock Marketing Call! I started doing that with Graffiti artists..Mock what they are trying to say..how they are saying it..
