BANANAS

AKA Anna Banana Appreciation Band (ABAB)

The theme is Bananas & Anna Banana.  Many of our members are « bananas » themselves, others are »fruity », a few are « nutty », and one is completely « ape ».
If you are none of these, don’t worry we can help you with specially designed projects and exams for your progress to the banana status you deserve.
We will also explore the many works of Anna Banana as we give appreciation for involvement in Mail Art & "Art".
PS I you are « crackers » or « loony », this group may not be for you.
Also: see link and fill in the form and return it to Anna Banana!

Welcome Dan.  We have a Banana call coming up soon.  February 21 World Banana Day & February 23 International Banana Bread Day.

Normally members agree to be put on the list, and then we send Banana mail art to each other.  You can send to as many or as few as you want.

If you say yes now, you will be the first one on the list.  Your Rose has already inspired me.

For unknown reasons, I thought it was a good time to reprise my flying banana rose. Now what should I do with it?

February 21 is Banana Day?

Comment by Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat) on January 22, 2015 at 3:02pm

Banana is a "fruit-of-the-plant" that is not a fruit plant,

but a herb plant??? And it develops like a berry???

"....female flowers that develop into “hands” (or tiers) of bananas, typically with 12 to 20 bananas making up a hand. Because the fruit is produced from a single ovary on the flower, a banana is actually classified as a berry, botanically speaking..."

So, it’s a herb and a berry… How’s that for confusing?

"…a banana plant is technically a large herb, distantly related to ginger. It is considered an herb in botanical terms because it never forms a woody stem the way a tree does. Rather, it forms a succulent stalk, or pseudostem."

Sadly yes, Dean, no stamp. I can see a faint area where it was stuck on now that i know where to look. And that is a lovely stamp - fortunately I have received that on an envelope from Richard Baudet. Quite large for a commemorative issue. I have had several pieces of mail from France where the stamps must have come off in transit.

And quite a Snappy picture!

And while I am here, something on the bright side from Snappy.

The forth guy from the left doesn't look to happy about his banana.  Maybe Snappy can straighten him out!

Phillip, did it really arrive with no stamps?  Too bad, because it was a nice Paris one I put on.
