MANHOLE COVER LOVERS

There must be billions of them in the world. We pass them every day. We walk on them. We do not take any notice of them. They are heavy, and usually made of cast iron. They come in many different shapes, sizes and patterns. Look, and you will find them everywhere.

What are they? MANHOLE COVERS, that provide access to local service systems such as water, electricity, gas, and telecommunications.

Post photos of any interesting ones you find here.

Katerina, you have a chance to make mail art and medical history. Sue the water company, for every Euro (or drachma) they have.

I tried to make medical history a few years ago. I got RSI (repetitive stress injury) for covering lots of canvasses in Aboriginal/ethnic type art. My thumb sort of 'locked up' and I had to have it operated on. I told the surgeon that I had 'Dotter's thumb', but she wasn't very impressed.

Get well soon.  Val

Heleen shows the "lovely" Athens water company's metal square covers along our sidewalks, some of which i fell flat on my face and smashed my right shoulder joint...now in-a-sling after surgery, ugh

PHOTO i took while waiting for ambulance..

there was a failure to complete these metal covers and with cement trim...my foot twisted in the 'sand' hole and down i went
