International Matchbox Edition as part of ARTSURPRISE.EU

hello mail art friends,

i like to invite you to think about a special edition of "mail art match box art (MAMBA)". I enjoy your replies here in the group...

In short: ARTSURPRISE is an international art project to address the joy working in multiples and routing attention to the artist work. i like to use this platform to spread more information about mail art to an interested audience. the boxes are availible in contemporary art spaces in different countries.

all art in this project is delivered in black boxes with same size. Inside each box is space of nearly 80 mm x 50 mm x 18 mm. Each box is unique (barcode and serial number). Each box is linked to one of many arttypes (painting, drawing, object, photography).

So the offer to YOU now: Would you like to participate with a smal series of 15 artworks done in match box - boxes and send them to our headquater in Spain? Your work would be published individually under your name but in a group art edition in the art type category "objects".

The theme for all should be defined BEFORE we start. I offer "MAKE-PEACE", "OUT OF THE BOX" and "SECRETS". Add yours if you are not happy with that here...

Its NOT all about money... but in case of Artsurprise there is money involved. Each artist receive a payback for his effort to make her/his art works. In this edition i suggest we all donate this money to the IUOMA website and i transfer it to RUUD JANSSEN to maintain this website.

What happens to the 15 matchboxes? Each is enclosed in a black box? And where do the black boxes go?

It will be distributed to the locations where we mounted the vending machines. Museum, gallery, exhibition hall, art fair....
