during my recent visit to the capital, i had a blast at  "Gertrude Stein and Pablo Picasso: the Invention of Language" at the Musee du Luxembourg. the exhibit (ongoing) features four works by Ray Johnson --

1. Wed Ded Lead (1968/1988/1989/1992/1994)

2. Untitled (Dear Gertrude Stein) (1990/1991)

3. Untitled (Amaryllis or The Prettiest of Legs) (1953-1960)

4. Untitled (Gertrude Stein Urinating) (1976/1987/1988/1991)

what a pleasant surprise this show was! not the usual narrow idolatry - the second half focuses on how other artists work with the legacies of S&P - very cool - highly recommended.

and -- no self-respecting exhibit would be complete without a specially designed pastry!
