I love mindmaps and this one is a great one.

The concept of this mindmap was based on a discussion I had with Litsa Spathi about the new ways after the historic Fluxus. A lot of discussions are about the use of the words, but in general the thoughts behind Fluxus are what count. They are changing too, and this chart deals with that. Made a photo of the start thoughts sketch too (see below). And a future issue might appear too.

The definition of Luxus is more the topic for Litsa. It is not what people think. Water is also luxus, just to give a sample.

I like this piece very much. I would like to hear a lecture to explain it too.

To me, it is a map of current "movements" in mail art and specifically their roots in DaDa and especially Fluxus. Concepts like anti-art are placed in relation to these practices.

"Choose a direction and a goal" even compels the viewer to consider a path.

I know from all the heated discussions on Facebook that the role of Fluxus in the network is very complicated (and outside the network as well). These discussions are mostly beyond me. Some people are proposing that those who see themselves working in the spirit of Fluxus give themselves a new name.

I know some individuals are advocating for "Post Fluxus." I have read online for a few years now that Litsa Spathi is advocating that contemporary Fluxus be renamed Luxus. Do I have this right even remotely? Luxus,  I realize, refers to luxury and opulence, at least in a material sense. I am not sure how that fits in.

So the Luxus path on the left of the map is one possible direction to be followed.

Things such as 5089 and DKult function as centers of activity currently for groups of people in the network. They definitely have been influenced by Fluxus. They are mail art specific.

Dear Richard C.

We all end up in the Garbage part. Only a selected few who look for Luxus actually reach this state.

Thanks fore the kind words. These are mindmaps, and have a complete world of thooghts behind it. Could do a lecture with just one drawing.......

with best wishes,

Ruud Janssen

05.06.15 Dare Ruud J., ...naturally, I am not quite sure what this "LUXUS" business is...not familiar with that term.  I got the "garbage" part. ... Your self-explanatory drawings are  rich  & just as confusing...stuffed-full like a page from Ryosuke Cohen.  All best to you. Richard C.
