PEACE!

An amazing card from Stephen arrived in Greece and it is a joy to behold:

And greeting in Greek! Thank you, Stephen!

Beautiful images and fine craftsmanship for the layered framing:

Fascinating for me are also the old, vintage postage stamps!

Who remembers when we could send a card for 3 cents in the USA???

the Great Lakes...I was thar...at the tip of Lake Michigan: Chicago :-)

Many postage stamps...12 in all, and each one tells a story...

Can't say where Stephen found them, but there are some vintage GREEK stamps, too.

You see, they are in "drachmas", not euro! ΕΛΛΑΣ....Hellas...

Many postage stamps: Salk vaccine! wow! and "Peace begins with a smile":

Then, a tiny "sealed" compartment in the center of the card

opened carefully and there in was a wonderful "gift": ΕΙΡΗΝΗ = PEACE

Very special mail art indeed! Thank you Stephen for all xxx

Happy creating mail art, Stephen! Your work is very nice and refined and your love of stamps shows. I have tons of old US postage stamps from the 70's and 80's...when relatives wrote to me. long before the internet. I am always fascinated by the stories behind stamps...wonderful!

Hello Katerina,

Look how nicely you've photographed everything and described each of the details. Thank you for such a wonderful blog. I'm glad you're enjoying the mailart.

I buy the stamps at my local stamp dealer "Americas Stamp Stop" in Berkeley, MI. A father, Carl and son, Todd own the store and have been in business for over 30 years. They even give all the customers a free hot dog & pop for lunch on Saturdays! They carry stamps from all around the world. I really like these Greek stamps too. They are beautifully designed. Rotary International caught my attention because I donate to them. They along with UNICEF & other global partners have made tremendous strides in the global eradication of Polio. India celebrated its first year of being Polio free this past January. A great achievement.

The book "Good Mail Day" by Jennie Hinchcliff & Carolee Gilligan Wheeler got me started in mailart this past spring and introduced me to Ruud's IUOMA site. I'm learning more about the world and expressing my creativity on a regular basis. Lots of fun.
