My 'fake" Rauschenbergs

I used Rauschenberg as inspiration for these pieces more than flattering myself into thinking I could even come close to a fake. posting hoping maybe others will share??

Petropetal - isn't it an almost absurd tale of collectors, governments & museums? We had better start a RR Fan Club. "Canyon" has an entire stuffed bald eagle RR found in a trash can at no cost to him. Similarly, we cannot buy or sell ivory, for obvious & I think very good reasons.

Another thing RR did: Due to materials, many RRs in collections are falling apart. I saw one on exhibit where deteriorating materials & cheap glue were falling off the backing onto the floor.

What a wonderful precedent - especially for artists who don't sell while they live but are confident their work will be recognised in the future and want to ensure it stays in the public eye and doesn't get sucked into the commercial vortex. All it would take would be a couple of grams of cocaine (or similar) dissolved into the paint...only revealed in a dying declaration/will of course.Perhaps even only to be revealed in the event of commercial interest...

Did anyone follow the bizarre story of RR's "Canyon" two years ago? A family owned a Rauschenberg ("Canyon") valued at $65 million. They wanted to sell it, only "Canyon" has bald eagle feathers in it, which are illegal to sell. The IRS (Internal Revenue Service) got involved and tried to fine the owners $29 million. I gather they finally donated it to MOMA for nothing:

lol--for this and some other  assemblages,Kurt Schwitters was an inspiration.  Rauschenberg's assemblages are what I drool over. I just never figured out how to take the leap into 3D

It's true, there were RR aspects to DK's bigger collages a couple years ago--it's all coming back. I have to go now, out of piercing deja vu! But first: Richard, you have a deeper vaudevillian molecule than a bunch of us put together. It's there in almost everything you right.
