D-Kit & Trashpo Amulet Fetish by Queen of Trash Diane Keys (Elgin, Illinois, USA)

DK - 6.26.2014 - 1

Mail-art by IUOMA member Diane Keys (Elgin, Illinois, USA)

June 26, 2014 - I am thrilled to have received a D-Kit from reigning Queen of Trashpo Diane Keys brimming with authentic DKult fetish items and trashpropaganda. The crown jewel is a DKult amulet (above). These might be considered DKult "dog tags" possibly after the D-Kanines program.

DK - 6.26.2014 - 2

The amulet was originally attached to a classic Trashpo triptych that has been dissembled for documentation purposes. Trashpo Jesus, of course, is a reference to “Jesus Jim” Leftwich (Virginia, USA) well-known among DKulters as the creator of Trashpo. An accomplished visual poet who sometimes engages in post-Neoist activities, Jim Leftwich accepts DKult adulation with characteristic grace, humility and Eternal Network supportiveness.

In classic Trashpo fashion, Diane Keys takes the debris of consumer culture and recycles it to reveal absurdity as well as a vision for a more harmonic and holistic intersection of art and life.

This detached panel (above) provides instructions for the use of the fetish item.

Trashpo and DKult have produced an astonishing number of stamp designs. Here are more. These are retro: A Ray Johnson bunny combined with a reference to USA President Dwight Eisenhower’s infamous warning to the world as he departed office: “Beware the military industrial complex.”

I am gratified that at least a makeshift medical kit is included in the package. I was among the many who suffered grave physical injury as a result of the defective D-Koder Ring scandal (and subsequent recall) engineered by KDJ. The D-Koder ring debacle was the beginning of KDJ’s woes as DKult CFO and DKULTFLA president.

DK - 6.26.2014 - 7

All this great material came enclosed in a wonderfully DeKorated envelope.

As ever, thank you DK!

Ah yes, "Jesus Juice," - the memories it brings back of when Michael Jackson Pollock & I would make mail-art together in that depressing yet atmospheric café near the art museum in Gary, Indiana. We would write on the postcards: "Wish you were here. This is 'Mail-Art Noveau.' We never believed it would come to pass, yet here it is like a single glove missing the middle finger.

Since achieving DKult samahdi allows you  to feel no pain, the element of danger becomes a display of faith.  Your receipt of a prototype DKoder ring was an unfortunately accident. We have since perfected it and stopped advertising in Mad Magazine.  But you know--sea monkeys are not without their dangers too.  I am sorry that the replacement limb has not been sufficient, but martyrdom is the fastest path to enlightenment. This has allowed you to evolve far past the place you were at pre-Dkult AND Dkoder ring opportunity.  I also think a lifetime supply of Trashpo JesusJuice was quite a generous settlement.

Gosh, so many great thoughts, even the minimal ones.

I love the amulet, but do I wear it? Check out the safety pins & shrapnel. I think it is to be admired, not worn. I did consider having Simba the Amazing Mail-Art Dog model it, but then thought better of it.

I don't like to be a whiner, but I already have a paralyzed left pinky as a result of a defective D-Koder ring. Why do the trashpoets send me broken glass and jagged metal?

That Jim Leftwich was inspired to compose a poem about this - I'm deeply moved.

As for trashpoets & waste removal professionals(garbage men & women), KDJ actually was working on this, which -unfortunately - led to her involvement in the Tony Soprano trial.

Thanks Rebecca, the great Susan M., DK, BG & Jesus Jim.

It is true that the amulets were made in a limited edition, and this is the first time they are being seen in public.  I am sure you only took it off for the brief moment you needed to scan it. Any time not wearing it makes you vulnerable to TOXIS agents who will blind you from your trash collecting mission.  I met a woman today whose husband is a garbage man. Needless to say, I had stars in my eyes.  She said he collects all the cokes (or is it the packaging? I don't drink coke) and uses the code to redeem them for free products. Now this guy would make a valuable asset to DKult for sure.  While this does get more into the area of extreme couponing than trashpo creation, he is definately appreciating the value of trash.  Wow! great useless poem from JL!i must gather rose petals to throw in his path to the dumpster.  It's sad that we had to start putting these warnings about feeding the cattle and ruminants, but with the recent problem of sewer rats at DKult, it was necessary

Fabulous!

OK, Ning cut the post. Jim Leftwich liked the D-Kit so much he wrote a poem about it (below).

BG, "don't feed the cattle" is one of my favorite parts. I also like: "How I went from a $10,000 a week movie queen to a $5 party girl" - which DK then attributes to Rebecca Guyver!

Always remember, do not feed the cattle.  In the gutter, looking up at the stars!
