Cryptic triptych by JessiebyDesign (Gering, Nebraska, USA)

Jessie - 1

Mail-art by IUOMA member JessiebyDesign (Gering, Nebraska, USA)

May 31, 2014 - A few weeks ago I sent a MinXus and Trashpo propaganda kit to new mail-art friend Jessie in Nebraska. She was kind enough to respond with this wonderful folding collage made of maps and animal images that, to me, suggests a cryptic path of adventure, an indeterminate travel tale that sparks the imagination of the recipient. Due to scanner limitations, I am only able to present the panels in pairs. The triptych structure is lost, somewhat, but at least you can peruse all the wonderful imagery:

Jessie - 2

These (above) are the first two panels of the inside triptych by JessiebyDesign.

Jessie - 3

The final panel is on the right. MinXus-Lynxus friends will recall that Empress Marie Antonette is a noted maker of triptychs, indeed triptychs are a part of the MinXus tradition; so I was very happy to post this on the M-L blog as well. Here are the panels on the reverse side:

And the remaining panel:

Many thanks to JessiebyDesign. We look forward to future exchanges!

Concerning Jessie's induction into the Postage Due Club: Yes, Jessie is the newest member of my Postage Due Club. This is not a reprimand but a very high honor! Diane Keys, Richard Canard and Moan Lisa are among the many other distinguished members of the Postage Due Club who view me as a kind of postal ATM. They know I will always pick up the tab to get the art.

Yes Carmela, there's a lot to like. People have done some great work with maps, including Jessie here. Friends have also experimented with this triptych idea. I think Karen Champlin (Illinois) made some. Maybe Carina Granlund (Finland). Marie Wintzer has also done some. Here's one:

Jessie, thanks for the great work & for being a good sport about the Postage Due Club. I picked up the tab for several postage due folks when I picked up mail earlier today - not just you. No one can break Diane Keys' record.

Thank you for a wonderful blog. I will gladly be the newest member of the Postage Due Club. That would be the first time that I know of! Won't be the last either, I'm sure.
