Bones of Contention Mail Art from Angie Cope

In the most FAB envelope made from an acetate map, Angie sent me the FIRST contribution to the Bones of Contention Project - Angie, its a FAB :-)

There are various debates happening on IUOMA about interpretation, meaning, the meaning of meaning - I think the discussions are wonderful :-).  Angie wrote:

A Bone of Contention...

Trust the Teller or

Trust the Tale?

Is art interpreted by the viewer or can it only be understood after hearing the artist's interpretation?

For sure Angie is contributing valuable questions - and for certain the answers are Bones of Contention. I''m going theoryless on this - I'm going with what I think:

Both add value to the artwork. Both feed the 'inner' and the 'outer'. All knowledge is fragmented. Nobody knows nothing and everything in totality. To bring all the voices together, that is to attempt to find meaning.

What thinkest thou?

Angie - thank you - its a FAB beginning :-)

I am inspired by Angie! Beautiful piece, girl! 'Like the fold-out idea and all the fabric details. Bravo, Angie!

Trust the teller? Trust the Tale? Hmmmm, gotta get on my train-of-thought.

Me, too, Marie,...I did not think to send a BOC boekie back. Now, however, it is a must!

Thanks for the blog, Cheryl! Thanks for the inspiration, Angie!

Angie!  This is absolutely amazing!  The maps, the sneaky pockets, the tiny lace details and stitching, so dynamic.  Greatness.
