Received from Douglas Galloway, USA--ink rendering

I've gotten beastly results with ink so I was very excited to receive this in the mail the other day. At least I think it's an ink rendering. I would love to know how Douglas made it. To me, living here in Minnesota where the current conditions are cold and icy, it gives the impression of a distant mirage coming off a winter highway. Take into consideration the polar bear postage…

Received: Fashion-Focused Mail-Art from Natasha Jabre (Richmond, Virginia, USA)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Natasha Jabre (Richomond, Virginia, USA)

November 22, 2010 - Natasha Jabre's first mail-art sent to me was waiting in my P.O. Box on Saturday. I was thrilled she sent me a pillow piece (above). Experience is proving that it takes some back-and-forth to learn what a friend is doing with their mail-art. My first impression of Natasha's work is that she is…

A Blog Post for Atte Ourie NO WAY Atte - Come to the Party!!

Mail ARt received 21 November 2010

Dearest Atte, I know we dont know you and all that but PLEEEZE! Come to the party, stop being isolated and alone in Finland - we're not so bad here!!

I've googled. I've asked, etc etc - Roy (RBCz) gave me a clue - could it do?

"I've always simply assumed Atte Ourie is a Finnish name; if you start looking, you'll find 'atte' means 'you' in Finnish while 'ourie' means a 'chill drizzle -- bleak… Continue

Received From Devillo Sloan

I don't have much to say about these works as they really speak for themselves. I will say that they show great passion. I can say that they are both fragile and beautiful. the first is a vispo piece and the other an asemic. I didn't know these words until DeVillo came into my life. I imagine that to be true to quite a number of people. I named the first piece "Resurrection" to celebrate DeVillo's return to… Continue

Received from Jen Staggs, USA--Haptic mail art that really pops

Jen has sewn a piece of bubble wrap inside a handmade fabric envelope and I can't stop popping it. This is a great haptic AND audio piece. Jen's sewing abilities never cease to amaze me. I"m mightily impressed that she sewed the Gene Autry stamp on and that the postal service gave it the go ahead. It's super to see how the idea of haptic poetry and art inspires and challenges…
