I am back to doing mail art(I hope)

Posted on August 19, 2011 at 10:40pm 0 Comments

I doubt anyone noticed, but if anyone did. I am sorry for disappearing and taking a mail art 'hiatus' out of nowhere.  I feel very bad, and for the people who were expecting something from me I will try to remember and mail stuff out.

I had to leave because of some personal/financial troubles. I won't go on because you have better things to do I assume. Like making art!

Print out the name and address and don't forget the Post Code BEFORE "GRECE":

KATERINA  NIKOLTSOU

GLINOU 20  HARILAOU

THESSALONIKI  54249   GREECE

A do think a machine reads it and usually only the post code.

A few times mail for me has ended up on Fiji Island in the Pacific,

it must have a similar code ;-(

Forget writing it in Greek, machines don't know Greek !

good luck...and just post it all together in another envelope?

I will appreciated the other stamps, too.

All the best.

Hi! Sorry to hear of the postal system blocking your artistic efforts -- I know that can be very, very frustrating. I'm involved with a sort of ongoing struggle with the French Post Office -- la Poste-- to see what I can get through the mail...to myself. I address bizarre envelopes to myself as part of my 'Envelope a Day' project that will reult in a local mail Art Exhibition this summer. On the back of every envelope I put (in clear, unadordened handwriting) my address -- which is exactly the same as the one on the front of the nevelope. So, if an envelope is marked the equivalent of 'Not accepted By the Postal System', it gets returned to me anyay;

Would you kindly move to Europe, and then I can save 15% on the cost of posatge to you? I agree: stamps are not cheap, especially when you do lots of mailings.

Hope to get your Royal Wedding piece safely.

Regards, Val

Hi! Have respect for your elders, young lady! (Including me, because I am probably hundreds of years older than you -- see the photo below). I used to travel all over Europe for my company, and spent about 30 years visiting at least 4 different countries each week; I even lived in one country (Holland) and had offices in two others (Belgium and England). All that is now over as I was retired a few years ago. Now I only go to the UK every 2-3 months to visit my mother -- who is currently seriously ill. I'm so broke these days that I can't really afford to go anywhere at all, and if there isn't enough money towards the end of the month to put gas in my lil ole car (25 years old), then I just have to stay in the village. But I don't mind at all -- no travel, no money, no gas, just me, my woman friend; two cats, my music, stamps and art; Life ain't bad.

Hope your's is good, too.

Regards, Val

Bonjour Julie,

I am very sorry that my bit of Mail Art upset your Mother. I ,ust admit that I have no recollection of what it was that I sent you (and her!). You might like to explain to her that sometimes I have this big cardboard box of bits and pieces of things and I delve around in it and see what I can come up with to make Mail Art. It's a bit like Found Art, I suppose. Othertimes I make a piece up with a definite theme in mind.

But I'm glad that YOU enjoyed my piece.

Oh dear!! More trouble is on the way, I'm afraid. I was in the Uk last week, and did a big mailing, including a piece to you. It's called 'After Miss Julie', and your mum might not like the reverse side of it at all.

GET TO THE MAIL BOX BEFORE SHE DOES!!

Regards, Val
