'gotta luv Keith Chambers' message!
Darest Richard, thanks for the commentary; on a facebook post [relating to a different of mine] I expounded on a comment left by De Villo Sloan, "... Having been doing "Digital Art" since the mid to late 1980s puts me in a weird category of old school digital artists." I've also had three decades of working as an art director manipulating many [loads] of images as a regular modus operandi. Funny thing is, my brother worked a 35 year career as a photojournalist, a hardcore "the image is truth" guy and always had comments of my image twisting, photo-montage ways... I no longer practice this as a living, but utilize these skills as I had originally been trained [way back at college] to create art, to use the digital realm as an alternative to physical mediums [I had to learn that stuff too — it was a 20th century world]. I still do hands on work [physical image making], but see no big differentiation between virtual and physical work as valid ways to invent visual solutions. The message is the work.
btw, I too dig Fike's work [as well as countless other artists here in the Union]. Peace out...
05.08.20 Dare Ms. Carmela R.,...Thanx for posting the Keith Chambers " postcard"(Digital painting) "The Ant Hunter". Mister Chambers appears to be a master at the craft ....I, for one, am such a "primitive" that I don't know the first thing about the process but it certainly looks very convincing & well executed. "Collage" has definitely entered a new milestone. Years ago , there was a common expression in reference to the photograph & something involved of potential possible question: Like: "Photographs don't lie!"...but of course ,nowadays photographs lie all the time (either touched-up or manipulated in some capacity). (But certainly not to imply that's what is going on here---didn't Picasso say something like: "Art is a lie that helps us see the truth"?] Keith S. Chambers (despite his antique self-photo image is a first-rate contemporary artist). SinCelery, Richard Canard ......Post Scriptum: Another artist that I admire in these I.U.O.M.A. pages that utilizes the digital painting process & oftentimes to a far different effect is Ficus strangulensis.
I received one of these great postcards yesterday as well, Thanks for letting me know it's from Keith ;)
Actually, no former postcards were altered or harmed in the making of this postcard. Images altered, yes. Digital painting "add-in", yes. Humanity given notice, maybe. Twisted, boyish humor, absolutely.
