This is a postcard in the making for my Grandma, who has spent most of her life surrounded by wheat fields. I used the rubber stamp on the side with watercolor, plus a fountain pen with sepia ink to draw in the three dark ones in the foreground.

MAIL ARTISTS - let's make this a 'thing': if you have elderly relatives or someone you know who is ill or socially isolated, start sending them snail mail every week! No reply needed, just aim to brighten at least one day out of every week for them long term. It doesn't even have to be handmade, store up a supply of cards / stationary and send notes about anything.

Thanks, this might be the one I send this week.  I'm planning her 100th birthday party for next month.  I'm so lucky to have her.

I think most elderly, ill and isolated people could really benefit from having one specific person who decides to send them snail mail every week for the duration of their lives.  There are a couple of non profits that come close to this idea, but I think most of us who love mail art could think of a relative or friend we could mail to on our own.

It's usually called RAKing (random acts of kindness). Some forums and communities, people ask for a RAK for someone in need. Less random that way, but more kind.
