laurence - i think it makes all the difference to be placed in a plain mailer. everything i have tried to send thus far in an envelope has 'passed' (no matter how heavily decorated the envelope). i have been trying to 'push the envelope' so to speak, and try to see what i can pass thru the mails in original, un-wrapped form, as postcard, etc. very little, so far!

as to receiving mailart here, i am yet unsure (have just begun the experiment). some friends have expressed worry that receiving mailart in China could get the recipient in trouble. i don't think there is so much a problem with censorship, etc as the idea of regulations. mail is sent in envelope, or on a 'bona fide' postcard. the item should fit through a mail slot and not contain items questionable by int'l Customs. otherwise it's just not seen as 'mail'. i think the 'art' aspect is pretty free and open. note that i say this as a foreigner in China.

de'V, helen, laurence, thank you resoundingly for the triplicate kudos! they are a joy to me.

best,

ejva
