https://www.postcrossing.com/ sending postcards around the world.

Just found Postcrossing, an organization started in 2005 for people trading postcards around the world in Jean Trals's IUOMA page which I looked at due to today being her birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Jean. There was a link there to the history of postcards and the postal system which includes a VERY LARGE collection of historical postal images perhaps of interest to some of us.here's a link to one: https://www.flickr.com/photos/smithsonian/2584174182/in/album-72157605338989538/and here's the image:from the very early 1900's when it was still legal to mail a child!See More

Hi Ficus, I received your mailart. What a nice letter! It's good to get to know you better. Thank you! I sent you something a couple of days ago so you should be receiving it soon.

Hi Ficus, You're right, we are friends, but like you, I don't remember us ever exchanging mailart. We need to correct that. :) The address in my profile is correct and I will be sending something to you this weekend.

Hello Fike, Your mail has arrived. Thank you for the playful enclosures. FYI: my iuoma avatar is made from a mask (2006) decorated with dried flowers and leaves, feathers, snakeskin, and semi-precious stones carvings. It represents Gaia, mourning the destruction of the earth.

Thank you! I will send something your way too! I have just finished my studies and am looking for a job. I've spent the last 7 years working with homeless people and people with addictions and mental illnesses.

See you in the mail,

K.G.B.

MAIL ART... ALL forms of art?

Posted on February 10, 2025 at 10:29am 0 Comments

I sense that we think of mail art as visual or perhaps textual [poetry] art but there is a whole Universe of other art, think singing, dance, instrumental music. And, with that to prime our mindset, allow me to introduce you to an amazing guitarist, Jin San Kim, 19-yr old Korean, self taught, sounds as if he plays with at least 40 fingers...
