Zeno Izen's Groups

hello

Hi, I am Zeno Izen.

Zeno Izen is an internet handle. My 'real' name is Matthew Carey. You can call me whatever.

I am interested in anything to do with mail art. That includes postcards, art that fits in an envelope. zines, add-and-pass, anything else that could remotely be called mail art.

If you send me something, I will send you something. You can also just tell me your address, or to grab your address off your page. (This is the only place on the internet I'll take addresses, btw.) I mail to anywhere on earth that has mail service.

My aim is to gather as many contacts as I can until I can take my mail art operations 100% offline. I feel like mixing mail art and the internet often leads to having the internet take over too much.

Blah blah enough. My address is on this page somewhere but I'll put it here too.:

PO Box 1886

Grants Pass, OR 97528

No need to tell me if you're sending me something, but if you do it will help me know you're here and I will post photos of your art if I am aware you are on IUOMA.<|

wow so you're a true local---cool.  I've been here 10 years.  It took about a year before I met any real Southern Oregonians. But now I know some real old timers--folks whose properties were settled in the Oregon trail era--mostly out in the Williams area. I just went ahead and sent something off to you this morning...the postal workers get a kick out of me for sure!  Look forward to your mail!

Hi Mathhew aka Zeno Izen
My name is Ruby and I am a recent addition to IUOMA.  One of my new friends asked if I knew you as I also live in Grants Pass.  Would love to connect and exchange mail.  I'll send something soon.  I am also a post-crosser and exchanging mail via swap-bot.  I got inspired when I attended a meeting of the San Francisco Correspondance Club last summer. It was so fun. I would like to start something similar here locally with live meetups. What part of town are you in? I am near Wildlife Images.  Ruby aka BeeBlume

three types of postcards, randomly distributed

Posted on October 30, 2026 at 10:00am 2 Comments

A lot of you have received one or more postcards from me. The near-daily issuance of postcards is just one arm of the mail art operation here, but it is the most visible and most widely distributed. I've written a few words about this facet of the project. I think that explaining the intent and ideas that I have about the postcards will make them a little bit more interesting, so I am posting this text here. This is the first draft.

a couple quick notes

not really enough for a blog post but too much for a status update...

first thanks everyone who's sent stuff so far. I'm trying to respond to everyone in kind but you know, disorngizned.

more photos will be posted as I'm able.

meanwhile, and importantly, I'm turning focus to overseas correspondents. that's more than a couple of people in here so let me say stand by for something more than a postcard. but not something you're gonna have to pay tax on.…

much mail received this week + weekend notes

Posted on October 4, 2026 at 9:00pm 11 Comments

What a week. So much inbound mail. I will get to that in a second here but first...

Early in the week I got a slip in my po box that said to go to the counter to get a piece of mail. I did that and one thing led to another and now the name Zeno Izen is assigned to po box 1886 as well as my government name, so there should be no more bounced mail.

Thank you everyone with your patience about all this. Going forward there should be no glitches of that type. We are now looking…

weekend notes for sept 26 2026

received three items in the mail this week. I'll say more about that in a second but first I have to address something.

attached with this blog post you'll see picture of a sticky note that was stuck on the back of a postcard I received on Thursday. if you dont see the pic, the text on the note is 'mail for this person always needs the c/o matthew carey to be delivered: let others know as well: we have returned mail due to name not on…
