Hello Martha, and thank you for your kind comments about Andrew's "Deep Oakland" book. I told him about your note and he was touched by it.

It has been quite a year for him and he still has some special events lined up, including an interview on a local radio station at the end of October. So much excitement!

The first printing sold out within about six weeks, and a second printing is in the stores now. That exceeded his expectations. Isn't success sweet?!

i saw that; you've handled it well. still, hilarious. 

We are lucky indeed!! And blessed with this online "Third Place" where we can meet and share with one another, Martha. One is hard=pressed to think of other places online that exist where the people are lovely and support one another!  I never take it for granted...OR the hard work and hours that Ruud must certainly put behind its functioning.

I sometimes think we should have a sort of telethon once a year to encourage member-folks to contribute via the "donate" button!  xo

Just to be clear, the 'Odd to a Krokis' was not my work; it was printed by a friend Bill Taylor years ago. The author was 'anonymous' but I have a suspicion it may have been Bill himself. Alas, it's too late to ask now.

hi martha,

a tip for your next adventure in mailart. in germany you pay 0.92 GBP for one international envelope (max 20gr). so i think it makes sense to collect your mail art and you take a cheap flight with at least 60 envelopes in a handbag and you make a daytrip to a german city and drop them of. if you find 3 other artists doing the same you could deliver 3 times a year and it would be much more fun...
(there is no irony in this text!)

Hi, Martha--Oh no; I never received your mail : (  I'm puzzled, because I haven't moved.  But I know it's one of the rhythms of mail-art to cede to unknown forces at times.  And I'm grateful that you thought of sending something my way!

Hi again, Martha--I'm sorry for the postal frustration. It may still reach me! Last year an envelope took 3 months to get to Arkansas from Finland. I'll let you know if it arrives. In the meanwhile, I will put something in the mail to you in honor of your efforts : ) Usually I don't announce something like that in advance--preferring that an envelope be a surprise--but I thought I'd let you know in case we're met with bad postal luck with mail from me to you as well.
