I have been postcrossing but love the idea of original artwork used for postcards and other mail. I love to share as art is a gift for others not oneself.
Size is A3 or smaller (maps can be folded or rolled) and can be on any sort of surface. Deadline is April 2011. Maps can be of you town, city or country and be as simple or as complicated as you like. You can personalise it with your own labels and locations.
The exhibition is at my university in Plymouth as a part of our 2nd year show, which I will be joint curating. I will document each stage of the project on my page. A4 size is fine :)
I would love to join your Aussie group. Please let me know how. Things are slow here at the moment due to Cyclone Carlos. We had a deluge of rain, I almost flooded, the power was off for a week and the phone is still not working. I am afraid I am behind in my art as it was too difficult to concentrate with the wind, rain, flood and darkness. I hope to catch up soon.
So how do I join the Australian group.- love the city scape Jenny, and I see my photo of the figure on the beach, it was a great card and your photo gave me so much pleasure. Denise
Try getting Pete Spence to join; he's got tonnes and tons of time in Au Mail: spenvis@hotmail.com, and much time up publishing. He may have suggestions for new members.
Mrs. England, Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness. I would retaliate in kind but my watercolors are more like outsider art I'm afraid. Not being schizophrenic (to my knowledge) or autistic (some room for doubt there) they sit on the page rather uncomfortably in that netherworld of the earnest but unschooled. Thank again. Mr. Stafford
Jenny, not sure how this site works yet, but should tell you I am organizing The SECREt eXCHANGE exhibition, check IUoMA upcoming shows for details; and please let your friends know....
....meanwhile, am attempting to work out ways of effectively getting word around this site
Your work is absolutely amazing! I have spent a lot of time in Australia with my husband along the Victoria Coast, along the Great Ocean Road. Some of your paintings looks as if they could have come from there....?
hi Jenny, just a reminder, here is an invitation to pARTicipate in the SECREt eXCHANGE exhibitions...pass the invitation on to your friends, and let me know on my page if you will or won't be able to contribute; for details, go to IUoMA Events...or click on the link http://secretexchange.yolasite.com/
Jenny, sorry to hear you are having a health problem;
if it is nothing seriously long-lasting, and I hope it is not, then perhaps you could come in to the exhibition further down the track...the Sydney section does not wind up until 24 August and the Seoul section concludes 19 February in the new year....
Jenny - I got your poem today for the 12-12-12 project. Thank you! It's a good poem! Here's the link to the project blogspot, and I've shared it on Twitter!
How do you add photos I have started my postcards but do not know how to sick them on the internet device. Hope you are well but I will get in touch soon...more dramas with N, family staying, now they are gone...it is time for some of my own work now. D. Loved the leaves and other things in your gallery
Since I am so late sending my dragons to you, I will post images of them here unless you would rather I didn't (might spoil the surprise when you get them in the mail...?) - just let me know. I was having a rough year around the death of parents and just didn't rally fully till now. Glad to be back in the mindset where I can do art at will again. :D Looks like you've had some health problems - I hope you are feeling well now. I have chronic illnesses which are very distracting (to put it mildly) so I know how it can affect a person. Happy new year and here's to health!
Okay, that sounds good. Glad to hear you are trying to get back to art now too. :D
I am looking forward to you seeing these dragons I made! They're going in the mail to you tomorrow so you should have them by next week sometime I hope.
Okay, had some printer problems so I'm actually sending you the dragons today - on my way to the post office now. Phew! Things always seem to take longer than planned when I'm doing them. I'm a bit of an all over the map type - juggling a lot of very disparate things at the same time. Anyway, I hope that these reach you before the Year of the Dragon is officially over! xox Carla
Thanks for the cool card thanking me for the Dragon piece! I really love how it turned out and I'm glad it reached you before the Dragon year was over. ;)
Is a non-Australian allowed to join your 'Australia' group?
I am currently smitten by Aboriginal art, and am exhibiting my faux Aboriginal stuff in France and Holland.
My sister, who lives in Terrigal NSW, has told me that my life is at risk from didgeridoos, boomerangs, wicherly (?) grubs and other things if the Aborigines became aware of what I was doing and the liberties I am taking with their art, heritage, culture and traditions.
But your Group might be a little more sympathetic.
If you allow me to join in, I promise not to whinge too much, even thought I'm a Pom.
God Save the Queen, etc.
Regards, Val

Hi Jenny,
Yes I found this a week or two ago. I am enjoying making cards and postcards at the moment - while I have plenty of time on my hands.

So how many people are in your group?
Wasn't David Stafford's name longer a while ago?
Notice you have a Natalie Rose Craven posting you. Is she related to Arthur Craven, or to Ray Johnson's friend, Richard C?
There you go, I have run out of questions.
