Earthling, this may be the last but certainly it´s not the least welcome message to IUOMA you are going to receive. I’m a celestial mail artist living in a heavenly corner of the faraway universe called Republik van Patland. I´d love to be the other end if you wish to trade mail art with a celestial mail artist. If this is the case at the time your envelope should read as follows:
The Celestial Scribe Terrene Embassy Republik van Patland Caixa Postal 24827 Curitiba-PR 80510-970 Brazil
I look forward to see a piece of yours in my terrene mailbox. I´ll do my homework after receiving your artwork. This is nothing less than a Celestial Promise. I’m Patricio, Celestial Scribe & Republik van Patland Official Envelope Provider.
Kosmo, thanks for the great bunny card -- it fascinates me more and more as I look at it--paint, cut-ups, a tartan plaid Flux-o-bunny. I'll blog it soon so everyone can see it.
Waking up from a 90 days mail art sabbatical leave I´m back into bussines. A celestial one is on it´s way to 407 / 43 / 10024. Best regards form the Celestial Republik van Patland.
Hey guess what I got today?! Holy cow that traveled fast! This is awesome btw! I agree with not sending as a postcard, I would have been afraid too. I'm impressed that you took the time to research Molalla. One of my favorite pieces!! Thanks! :o)
Perhaps you already know about this but just in case--there's a showing of the seldom seen work of mail artist John Dowd opening at Printed Matter this Friday night running through May. Should be very interesting...
Thanks for sending the handout from the John Dowd exhibit. I wanted one but forgot to take it. I always get really distracted in Printed Matter--there's just so much in there! When you were in the neighborhood did you stop in at the Matthew Marks gallery on 24th Street to see the Ray Johnson show? If not, it continues till June 24th...
Thanks so much for the very cool art, especially since I'm a huge Kinks fan! I saw a 1956 Columbia album cover Ray Johnson did for the Roger & Hart musical "On Your Toes." It was at a gift shop adjoining Bowne Printers at the South St. Seaport. There were a number of R. J. pieces displayed behind the counter, including the record. Thinking this odd in such a place, I asked the guy there (polishing a very old hand-set printer) about them. He introduced himself as Bob Warner, an artist/printer at Bowne and former correspondent of Ray Johnson. He told me that Ray gave him 13 cardboard boxes stuffed with found objects, letters and sketches and that he liked to display them and talk with customers about Ray and keep his spirit alive. The boxes were the basis for a show at the Esopus gallery space in the Village in 2011 and Berkeley Art Museum in 2012. If you're ever in the mood and down in the Seaport area (it's not as awful as it used to be) stop in! I think I'll listen to the Kinks now...
Came home from a trip to Canada to find your great sharply styled card. My husband liked it so much he "stole" it for his bulletin board. "You can know a rude chap by the way he set his cap"... Thanks so much! I enjoyed seeing some of the cool work from your show with Jack Logan and hope you'll put up more (also to share on IOUMA?)
I really don't know how to post images here either. Dave (my husband) always does it for me with his "scanner thing." (I'm not proud of the fact that I'm a moron when it comes to tecnology.) It would be great if you could share your show with IOUMA though...
Putting something in the mail for you today... Thorougly enjoyed "Is Saitch Yer Daddy?" blog. I know little of East London and virtually nothing about West Ham soccer but there are such strong echos of a lost time in your blog that I felt as if I did somehow (looks great too!). Please elaborate on the backstory of the graffito. The son of Saitch contacted you?!
