While performing an image search online I discovered mail art. I am attracted to MA because it's internationally interactive, it gives me cause to think about what item(s) in the house can become mail art and navigate thier way thru the postal systems to arrive at the recipient and finally it's an incredible way to meet people/make new friends
Deanna, all you say in your profile here at IUOMA point mail art exchange. Let´s go ahead then. I would like to be the other side on this very beginning with you at IUOMA when you decide is the right time for you to do it. If that’s the case at this time your envelope should read as follows:
The Celestial Scribe
Av. Paraná, 1489 apto. 1004
Curitiba-PR
825210-000
Brazil
I look forward to see your piece on my mailbox. Yes!, I will do my homework after receiving yours. That’s a celestial promise. I´m Patricio, The Celestial Scribe.
Did you receive the artistamps I sent you on the 15th? Was there a problem with your membership? Just wondering why you signed up again... anything I can do to help?
LOL - I totally understand. :D Glad the stuff I sent has arrived! Look forward to whatever you send. BTW, the tree pieces in your slideshow are awesome! I like your other drawings also. :D And thanks for posting what you got from me. (I also do a lot of tree pieces but our style is quite different so it's cool to see the similarities and differences.Delete Comment
Thanks Deanna. You've probably found out a lot by now but just as an aside, I started carving my own stamps (like rubber stamps but made of erasers) back in the late 70's and then, as this became more popular, some companies made sheets of eraser-like material available so I switched to that so I'd be able to do larger carves and different shapes. Also, MasterCarve, which was made by a company making erasers (Staedtler-Mars), was thick enough to make a carving on each side if you wanted to. Now there are lots of different softblock manufacturers and distributors and many different types of softblock being made. So, it's just another thing like linoleum, woodblocks, or rubber which can be carved into a stamp which is then inked and from which a print is made. The reason I like softblock as opposed to linoleum, wood, or rubber, is that the stamps I make are more flexible so I have more freedom in terms of collage-printing them. Also, I don't need a press to use them, which is usually necessary for harder, thinner stamps.
Yes, Deanna, I got Meet the Pattersons (rice and all!) on Saturday. Was that only yesterday!? Oh my! Thanks very much. And I love the rabbit art you've made! Look
Hi thank you for finding me. You just new here. I am in IUOMA since 2009.
You can send me message from any of the site, IUOMA, flickr, twitter, blogger, facebook whatever...
Off course you can send me mail art. I do photo, painting, mixed media, collage, etc. I like recycle art too. I like conceptual because I went to SFAI a bit got into it. lol
I've yet to brave Vegas - I have trouble with the heat! But, I love hearing about it and seeing it through other people's eyes. I have the feeling I'd find it fun purely for the people watching and the kitsch of it all... I don't gamble and I can't be around people smoking (asthma) so the casinos would be wasted on me. ;)
Deanna, I felt sooo spoiled today to receive Two envelopes from you-and matching no less! I love what you and Amy did with the add and pass. Such a cool idea to extend it and give it an overlap. When I can catch up on blogging I will be very excited to post the first results of the trashpo add and pass project. Your art is fantastic. Unfortunately the tissue paper stuck to the back and tore some off. It actually made it look pretty good that way though and I used some pieces in my art. Thanks so much love your talent
