How much did you get? Probably more than the around 56 cents Diane sold a John Bennett shopping list for on ebay. It was worth more, and you probably got more for the Martin photo from David.

The market for Milner is red hot at the moment because of reports that he fell at a Bob's Big Boy in Glendale. Some said it was booze, some said it was his prostate medicine, some said there was ice water on the floor and anybody would have slipped but the fact is he fell and he broke his ankle. We're waiting on pins and needles to see if/when his temp starts rising. When he hits 99.4f the market is going to go apeshit. Don't say I didn't warn you.

  • Nancy Bell Scott

See, if it weren't for IUOMA, not many of us would know what David has educated us about here regarding Martin Milner. I feel deeply in your debt, David, because I stopped getting my gossip from Parade magazine a number of years ago and have been quite a lot dumber ever since. Thank you ... truly!

  • David Stafford

    Dear NBS,

My job is provide you with tasty morsels of pop culture in bite-size digestible chunks. No sticky mess. No gummy aftertaste. Just the pure gristle you want and crave. And, in a way, we do a great service for the forgotten celeb who's age has shoved them from the stage but still give good copy when they're gliding in a gurney down the corridor that leads to death's door. Anyone can find something on Brangelina but what about Lionel Atwill and Claude Akins? What about Albert Salmi and Geraldine Brooks? These people have lots of mordant secrets that I am here to make up for you, the reader, (Nancy, in this instance).

Now that Kenneth Anger is no longer. I mean he's still alive. He's just not that angry. Well, someone, dear reader (AKA Nancy) has to step up to the plate and jump in those empty shoes which is really tricky if you have a bad knee like I do. It goes on like this for days....

  • Nancy Bell Scott

The bite-size digestible chunks are very digestible and I appreciate them. Also, your logic is logical, Dave, and the aging forgotten stars gliding on their gurneys deserve your and our attention. What about Gale Storm? Maybe her gurney glided through the door already. I'll check for you.

Just love the tales-you-tell, David! xxx

David Stafford tells a story...many, actually

  • David Stafford

thanks, Angie...it's not often I get to do "uplift"....

  • Nancy Bell Scott

    You're right about that, Angie.

Yesterday blogged at last these most artful matchbooks made and sent to me by David many months ago. They're wondrous in person. It's a shame the camera is not a talent of mine:

    Thanks, nancy

    Congratulations! Your own group ;)

    Saluting New Mexico today, David...

    sorry I swallowed the "F" in O'Keeffe!

(where is that spell chick when ya need her?)

  • David Stafford

It's a big deal in these here parts...Georgia's Birthday, I mean...Giant papier mache cow skulls, lilies you can walk right into and get lost in. Undulating petals that beckon strangers like pistil packin' flowers beckon bees...quite the scene....

  • Nancy Bell Scott

You really are a poet. Nice!...

  • David Stafford

    Thanks, Angie...

  • David Stafford

You're welcome, Angie....and a belated Merry Christmas to Snooky. Angie, I don't think I told you that Simon, my ex-wife's Corgi developed lymphoma and has been let loose in the Corgi Fields of Elysium where I'm sure he takes more pleasure in being "on duty" than he does chasing balls. He had a strong sense of vigilance.

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Aw, very touching corgi story, David.

And what a wonderful corgi-and-star card! 'Love it !

'Bet Snooky loves it, too .

Kunsthund Sushi knows why it is regarded as a pleasant experience :-)

I took my time to share this here but I needed this time to sample, enjoy and think, about this fabulous and a bit mysterious mail from David (I presume from David) .
Many thoughts and self interrogation in reading it( yes I am a bit illiterate and very French too ;)
such as Why this title in spanish ? So many references behind the golden hair, how can I choose between perhaps Joachim du Bellay or Syd Barett ? Is it a Frame story disguised in MA ? who could be the mysterious M Cyrus who spoke so well of David... not Cyrus the great, I'm afraid .
But at least now, thanks to David, I know why I never quit smoking! And I can proclaim “I’m really enchanted with David, never ever annoyed, pas de vent mauvais” !

  • David Stafford

It could only be Miley Cyrus the Great....

  • Raphael'L

Definitly not Cyrus Mistry, chairman of Tata Group ?

  • David Stafford

    I don't believe so...is that a nom d' postale?

  • Raphael'L

No, but I like that name ! Better suited to a group of postal art that to a multinational conglomerate company ;-)

  • David Stafford

    Oooh, no....not that....

Another entry in the David Chronicles: David Enters The Who Has The Best Hair Contest:

  • Nancy Bell Scott

Have been falling off the edge in anticipation, waiting for David to show up with the hair thing, his own special version.... Such a multi-faceted guy! It's a Saturday-brightener.

  • David Stafford

Nancy, this is very old-school Dave, pre-IUOMA days. The all-new improved Hair entry is wigging its way to DVS even as we send our pixels thither and yon. (Possible Siamese Cat Names).

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

    I'm enchanted with David's fashion collection :-)

Well, heck! Anyone who has a group with enchanted followers has to be, well, lets say, enchanting. Now let's see, how will I express my enchantment????????

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

It is enchanting to get mail art from David!

many thanks for all that you sent! xxx

    "Legacy" cards from David Stafford

Looking for enchantment? Had it recently + fortunately, end of Oct, when David Stafford + Patti BOTT glided through Portland on their way to Rural HardWorking Maine (see Dave's facebook page for the nitty-gritty of that experience). Yes, it was an enchanting morning, as you can see from the myriad expressions on faces in these photos, taken by Patti with bad cellphone camera and another with a real camera.

Patti, Dave, me, and Phil at Hot Suppa! in Portland for breakfast:Fab company and breakfast, paid for by Dave, so I chose the expensive and real maple syrup. Here again are Dave and me and Phil's arm (he ordered me to leave out his getting-over-migraine face in this one):

After some roaming around the city, we inhaled fresh air on the Eastern Prom of Portland overlooking Casco Bay, in its glorious grayness. David and I were having daydreams of orcas, which gave us an eye-closing fright:

And so I especially enjoyed the riot of butterflies on the next envelope from Santa Fe:

In the 14 years since Phil came home with a web-TV, put us online, and sent me under the covers in despair, countless web connections have been made, but actually meeting one in person was a first here in Oct 2014, and it was the best. Dave IS enchanting, and so is Patti. We wish they'd move here but don't think they were won over. I mean, we have no adobe and lots of snow. And we're precariously perched on the edge of the continent. Still . . . come back anytime . . .

  • David Stafford

Thanks, Nancy. Yes, it was a lovely encounter. That makes two real life encounters for me including Dean in Paris. (Also lovely). Lisa Iversen and Michael Harford have threatened  to visit but the damn meteorite showers keep intervening. Nancy, got your letter...preparing a response but the damn meteorite showers....you know how it is....dreaming of orcas in New Mexico....dave

  • Nancy Bell Scott

I do know how it is, Dave. No time worries whatsoever. If you had smaller skies out there you'd be less aware of meteorites, though.

  • David Stafford

The Small Skies of Maine does have a nice ring to it.

  • Nancy Bell Scott

Ok, I've finally stopped laughing enough to agree with you. We're all really thrilled to be that humble here in The Pine Tree State.
