CIRCLES

Call them circles, call them dots, use a hole punch, use a template, draw them, scribble them, paint them, collage them. This is all about circles and how we make use of them.

Does my green sun look too much like an olive? I didn't realize until I scanned it.

some traditional Mail-Art that goes out today. The photo taken while finishing the enveloppe, and that goes worldwide already causing reactions even before the envelope hits the mailbox where it starts it's travel........

Talking about circles, on instagram I saw an artist who makes paintings for ants. In the past year she created 365 of these, very small, and: within circles!

    See her website: http://lorraineloots.com

And on instagram sha also has photos on which you can see how small these circled paintings are:

These circles are NOT so tiny :-)

...and maybe should be posted at ORANGE Lovers, too?

Thanks Dan. The landscape is just 3 pieces of paper. I love minimal! And Circles, of course. Viviana, I like your circles!

    Here's today's - I'm "re-purposing" a photo that a friend gave me.

  • Linda French

    Really cheerful, happy circles, Viviana!

I'm loving these latest pieces, Mim.  --Linda

Heleen de Vaan, thank you for sharing about the tiny ant paintings.  I loved seeing that.  Really lovely stuff.

  • Amy Irwen

    received from Judy Staroscik...Wonderful colors!!!

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Is this a circle piece?  I think it could be a circle piece.  Do half and three quarter circles count? If so, then here it is, my first circle piece blogged entitled; Bubbles in Champagne by Katerina Nikoltsou.

  • Heleen de Vaan

    And more circles, from Paris!

    Suiss Eiffel tower watches.

Thank you very much, Artist in Seine!

True confessions...... the circles on the card for Heleen ( and a few others) are not stencilled, but a painted piece of bubble wrap pressed onto the background. My new favorrt supply!ite a

  • Heleen de Vaan

Wow, Jan, that makes a great effect!
I first thought that you painted each and every circle apart, thank you for your confession :-)

Bubble wrap, I totally forgot it, but it has a looot of circles!

If it's your new favourite supply, I might recommend you John *Scriptor* blog, he blogged about all great things one can do with bubble wrap (and January 26th it's Bubble Wrap day, don't forget :-) ).

One of my first pieces of mail art contained bubble wrap (sent to Ptrzia/TICTAC for her 'Bubbles' mail art project - if interested, scroll down on her site to see it).

  • Mim Golub Scalin

BUBBLE WRAP! Fabulous supply!. We have a large supply of it in my husband's studio! Perfectly spotty, dotty, circular.

  • Linda French

I've sometimes used bubble wrap printing in my art journals, but just never, ever used it on mail art! Thank you for the great memory jog, Jan!

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Circle beauties from Jan Hardt (envelope too!):

  • Dan Mouer

  • Mim Golub Scalin

  • Linda French

Mr. Dan, you are a rascal, but thank you for the very nice blog.

Mim, these 2 pieces seem so warm and healing to me. Warm colors, and the circles first seem like holes to a deeper view, but then unite the 'broken' pages. Really nice    Linda

    Jan, love your fiber piece!
  • Mim Golub Scalin

Thanks, Linda. I like both ambiguity and the illusion of transparency and am happy when I can achieve it.

  • Heleen de Vaan

Envelope from Ruud Janssen, with several circles! And a 3D drawn tiny envelope, nor circled but nice, too :-)

Circles... washi ...buttons! from Kim in Korea:

My sister gave me some old round papers that are larger than a dinner plate and contain some kind of data. I couldn't figure out what to do with them, other than use in a collage, then arrived at this idea for a postcard thanking her for her gift of the papers. The stamped words follow the circular lines on the paper.
