No, they're from Scotland (and according to the Dutch wikipedia, they were seduced by an Argentinian to go to Italy, to travel from there by boat, but the man fled (with their money) and the boat never came, so they choose to stay in Italy and became famous there. (the English and German wikipedia don't tell this exciting story).
But the Scottish are said to be greedy, as well as the Dutch, and Dutch are middle of the road themselves, so I understand the confusion.
Shocking Blue were from the Netherlands. And our colleague Suus is, of course, the genie (Dutch word, 'genius' in English - isn't this egg hat great!).
Lovely Easter Vinyl, thanks for creating and sharing, Val, Suus and Jean!
Neil Gordon's invitation to join... Check!
Looked back at my blog posts and found this blurb:
The vinyl enclosed 45, You Are So Beautiful: Solar Disk Holism, was originally created for the 2012 Solar Disc Festival, only the festival was over by the time I got around to finishing it. (That’s what happens sometimes.) Subsequently, it has been promised to another Trashpo contemporary who loves vintage vinyl as much as I do, Neil Gordon of Connecticut.
This wasn’t my typical Trash Bubble. The cracked 45 was essentially trash, but I just couldn’t bring myself to throw it away. Encased in clear vinyl and punched with two sizes of holes at irregular intervals, it became another animal entirely. You Are So Beautiful… I can’t help but wonder what Joe Cocker would think.
You can read more about it here:http://trashbubblesandlifeslittlebits.wordpress.com/2013/02/27/home...
And read more about the magazine it appeared in, here: http://trashbubblesandlifeslittlebits.wordpress.com/2013/01/16/gree...
Can't wait to see if Neil can show us more about its life after fame and fortune! :D
LoL! Fair enough, Vinyl Val! I'll hop right to it!
Thanks Lynne: I think that YOU should ask him to joi, especially as you already have a Vinyl Art link with him. (I'd ask him myself, but, well, I've got my hands full with Marie-Antoinette Peggy Sue at trhe moment).
Purpleferret: in yesterday's UK 'Daily Telegraph', here was an article on the 'worst-dressed pop stars ever'. The Bay City Rollers were the 2nd worse. (The 'winners' in the bad dress stakes were Abba). This is what the review said about them:
Short tops trimmed with tartan, multicoloured baggy flared jeans cropped at the shin and trimmed with tartan, over stripy socks and platform boots, all set off with tartan scarves. It seems incomprehensible that someone actually sat down and thought, 'I know what will get the teenybop girls excited: tartan!' The really bizarre thing is that it worked. For a couple of crazy years in the mid-70's, the Bay City Rollers were a worldwide pop sensation. Girls screamed. Boys wore tartan.
I'd like to make it very, very clear that I DIDN't wear tartan!
my rubber, er vinyl arm has been twisted. Now on the hunt for the Bay City Rollers 45 and the backstreet boys 45 kickin it around here.
Someone needs to invite Neil Gordon to join the group... He is in receipt of my one and only piece of vinyl mail art. (Not that there won't be more...) Wonder if he could provide us with a photo of it in its new home?
Great photos, Erni, especially the one on the building. Happy Hamburg Easter.
