Dear flowery Fleur, Yes do, please send me a paper copy of  the Pfyn template:merci beaucoup. Sometimes I suppose there is a little bit of logic in making (or trying to make) us artists follow the same format, but hey! we're artists not 1st grade kids and we need to be able to exercise our freedom of expression. I'll follow the template for P fyn but I'll probably do something else that's a little more, well, anarchistic. Thanks again and bon weekekdn, Regards, JE Sweefoo

Val, I was able to nab the Pfyn postcard template, and I can mail it to you if you wish. There is a LOT of boilerplate copy on the template. It's handy that the address is in place, but there's a lot of other stuff, too.

That said, I have to admit that I agree with you. I also think that it would be more interesting to let artists send in whatever they like.

I think that it's OK to specify that the works should be a certain size --- or to be no larger than an A4 sheet, for example --- but why do we have to use a template with a lot of boilerplate stuff on it?

Re Pfyn: I don't have the Zipp programme necessary to download the postcard template, and ain't going to buy it just to download it. Has anyone any bright, non-technological ideas as to how I might get it? On second thoughts don't bother with that question, and instead just think about this one:

What on earth has happened to male Mail Art so complicated? Why do we have to download templates etc? Why can't we just send a postcard to the Pfyn folk? (The most complex Mail Art project I came across was for the secret exchange in Australia. You had to provide so many details -- mother's place of birth, size of bicycle wheels, inside leg measurement, what the dog ate for breakfast, etc -- in a series of sealed envelopes, that i thought 'Stuff this, it ain't worth all the hassle!' Sorry Ozzies you made it too complicated.)

I might send Pfyn an ordinary old postcard creation, and if they don't accept it then I don't really care.
