LITERATURE and ART

TOP:

Handmade Ezra Pound (Ezruckus Poundamonium) paper doll for a series of skits in which E.P is the main star. --Theresa Williams

MIDDLE:

Automatic writing by Nancy Bell Scott.

BOTTOM:

One of a set of cards made while contemplating the poet Theodore Roethke.  On November 12, Roethke suffered the first of what was to be many mental episodes.  It happened in the cold Michigan woods, and he described the experience as having a "secret" revealed to him, which he said was the secret of "Nijinsky."  Nijinsky was a famous ballet dancer who was institutionalized for schizophrenia.  With your permission, I'd like to post your artwork at my blog:  The Letter Project.   I'm also looking for letters about literature and creativity.  All works from the blog have gone through the postal system.

Agreeing with Catherine, Vaida.  It's a fine piece and does belong here.

Well, I lied.  I wasn't IN those little old library desks but rather AT them, and sometimes draped exhaustedly OVER them.

Your essay in Talking Writing takes one on such a meaningful ride in such a short time.  I love your writing, Theresa.  You swept me right up, and gave me chills.  You also brought back my own memories of great solitary hours in the little old desks among the stacks in my old college library.  They were on the second story, at the end of very short stacks overlooking the main library room, atrium-style.  Emotions ran the gamut in those spaces for me, from crying over Molly's soliloquy in Ulysses to laughing my guts out looking at Through the Alimentary Canal with Gun and Camera, pulled randomly from a shelf next to me.

Here are scans (also posted on blog) of Theresa's folding card to me today, the first showing both the front and back (including Leonardo having a most interesting look-see out), and the second showing her postcard collage inside the card along with an amazing childhood memory of Leonardo's.  Imagine.

Well, I will be lucky to receive to your Rilke card, Theresa.  Your Leonardo-related mail-art arrived just now, and I love it!  And such a lyrical memory of Leonardo's in his quote inside your card.  Tonight I will post it here and on the blog.  Thank you ~

"Regularly" can mean anything, superhero.  I'm guessing 3 hours once every five nights.

Wow, it's not even the whole image.  It filled my screen like nothing else has yet.
