It's good to hear of success with A&P mailings. I've sent some off to people I know from past mail art exchanges are reliable about adding and passing - but things have still disappeared and I've never seen them again. More and more, I check first to see if it's OK to send someone something. But I have still never seen the final result of something I started!

And you're right, now that postage costs are so much higher, it all does start to feel pointless and I'm a bit sad about that. I just hope that the person who kept the A&P has kept it because they love it so much!

I've actually had quite good experiences with Add and Pass, and I often get work that I started back, though it can take several months or even longer.

I’ve noticed as well that the Add & Pass group on IUOMA isn’t very lively; I'm not sure why that is. I think not everyone enjoys working on Add and Pass projects—sometimes it can be hard to express yourself within them. Additionally, the postage costs can be quite high. I sent out a small booklet yesterday, smaller than A5 and only 135 grams, and it cost €13.75. Sending to another continent would be even more expensive.

When I receive a completed sheet back, I send a copy to all participants. I also post finished small booklets on social media.

I always enjoy seeing a result come back, but I’m perfectly fine if it doesn’t. For me, it's all part of adding and passing it on.

If you really want to get something back, you can ask someone beforehand if they're okay with participating and returning it to you after it's done. Personally, I have a full-time job and I don’t like to rush through things, so it might take some time ;-)

Not exactly a buzzing group? I carry on sending out things I make as A&P, but now honestly never expect to see any of them again. Am I mad? 

And maybe because of similar experiences, one contact in my mail art network recently started an A&P sort of book that's on-going just between the two of us. I have a rough impression that there's maybe more of that going on now - people agreeing to take part in something travelling between a limited number of people.

After a break away (moving, sorting out all too many repairs etc), I'm dipping a toe back into the mail art world. So far, I'm only doing A&P things - so send them on to me if you have any.
