Bonjour boys and girls!

Angie and Snooky told us yesterday that:

"This year July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This apparently happens once every 823 years."

I propose that we celebrate it with a Postal History Boutique Special Mailing in July.

The theme is FIVE (or vijf, viisi, cinq, funf, cinque, fem, piec, cinco, etc)

There are 5 rules to this Mailing:

1. You must mail on Tuesday 5th July

2. On a pentagram shaped card (or on a pentagram superimposed on the front of an envelope)

3. Your piece must have a 5-theme (see below). You have to tell the Mailing List Co-ordinator (Guess who? Yes, me) what your 5-theme) is going to be

4. It must include at least one 5-cent (or local currency equivalent) postage stamp. [If a 5-cent stamp is unavailable, then a 15, 25, 35 etc stamp is acceptable, as long as it has a 5 in it.]

5. Er, I don't have a 5th rule yet...any ideas, gang?

Possible 5-themes are:

* Renault 5

* Chanel No 5

* 5 senses

* Take 5

* 5 wounds of Jesus

* 5 Olympic Circles

* The Famous Five

* 5 books of Moses

* High 5

* etc, including of course any other(s) that you care to choose.

Please let me know -- with your full mailing address, and the 5-theme you have chosen -- if you would like to participate in this once-in-a -823-year-occasion mailing* .

Regards, Val

* Regretfully, the Postal History Boutique cannot commit at this moment in time (ie now) to organise another mailing on this theme in 2834

Me ready...found in Athens, some great postcards with "Five Circles of the Olympics"!

And have some US  and Greek postage stamps from ol' Olympics....sooooooo,

doing this for/by July 5th?  Thanks for the address listing, Angie! Are there others who are in????

Yes: 30 MJune seems fine; A call should go out to all Postal Boutique peoplle to see if they want to join in, and , if they do, to reply by 29 June. Then the participants's address list is completed on 30 June. So that wse can mail of 5 July.

Regards, l'Hermit

Bonjour, Bonjour, Bonjour, Bonjour, Bonjour!

That's 5!

My apologies.

I have neglected this.

One of my failings (I have many, but here is not space here to list them all) is that i move on too quickly from one project to the other without 'tidying up' after me.

5 thoughts and observations on FIVE:

1. Thank you Angie & Snooky for taking over the mailing list.

2. I am IN. I would assume that La Possum is out (especially after yesterday's rants and blogs). Steve is Steve Tandy, 94 Norfolk Rd, GB-Wrexham LL12 7RY, Great Britain [not England, as Wrexham is in Wales]

3. I think that we should circulate the Five Call once again to all of the Group, because there are some new members and some of the old ones might now decide to participate in it.

4. The a new Mailing/Partcipant List will need circulating.

5. The pentagram shape on the card/envelope was a good idea at the time, but I'm not so sure that it is now. Do we want to stick with it?

Au revoir, au revoir, au revoir au revoir and good bye;

Regards, Herman's Hermits (there were 5 of them!)

Bonjour! My 5-theme is DICE (or dices or die, because I don't know what the plural of a dice is). I'll probably be sending outs some 5 photos or collages. Who knows? I don't! Regards, Val
My theme will be Fireball XL5 (which ran in 1965) A tribute to Gerry Anderson.
Hopefully, our postal strike will be history by July 5.

HeeHeeeHee..hopefully we will NOT have a Greek postal strike on July 5th!

Ya never know....

but my FIVE will be ready to go!

Bonjour Katerina! I think that given the unsettled postal conditions that you are operating in you MUST be allowed to choose your own mailing date so as to avoid a postal strike if one takes place on the 5th. YOU decide when exactly you mail, on the 5th or as close to it as possible. I'll be in the UK of 05/05: a big public sector strike is planned for 30/06 but I'll avoid that, fortunately!

Bestest, l'hermit

OOh!  Thank you!  That was really helpful- I had been thinking of things named "five" and not "five of 'something'" or 5-inch or 5$- so I'm glad you broadened my thought process.  I've even gone to wikipedia and typed in "five" - just for a list to dig through.  Onward!

that's a good list angie & snooky! each of us has to draw the limit somewhere -- mine is the teletubbies. aaaaaaaaaagh! uuuuuuuuuuuuuugh!

l'hermit

I'm thinking I can do something saucy with 5-inch heels...meow!

5-inch heels...go for it, Jen...

How about "5-inch Nails" and all that variety:

Ocean's 5

5-Leagues under the Sea...

Well, me has the 5 Olympic Circles and will post on 05.07 for the postmark

UNLESS there is a strike.

Oh, Val? They have strikes in the UK, too??? ;-)

Bonjour!

Yes, my 5s are already to be put in the post in the UK on 5 July;

No, we don't want any more new members, cos I'll be introuble getting more pieces together;

Bestest, Hilton
