But SERIOUSLY!! These handmade pages DO take a long time... I spent the best part of the afternoon thinners printing all 16 x 4 sheets (with copies for variables like lost mail) - LMF is right - a basic photocopied and then worked on top? That way you start with half the work on each set done??? P.S. Yes - suffering from the inhalation headache as I write... :-) XX
And thank you for this! It makes sense. Photocopied basics still leave plenty of work to be done by hand, maybe especially for maximal style artists, which is my strong leaning. But it's definitely do-able. Ok, thanks again, it must be time for you to get back to 2015! :--)

Dear friends,

today i sent you all 15 asemic books!

I hope you will receive them soon and enjoy them!

Well done Georgia lets hope the plane from Greece gets here SOON! :-) X
I concur about labor for individualized pages. I'm still on Ed #4 chapter because every page is individual. Chapter title is "Asemiotics" BTW. #5 will have to be regular copies
Asemiotics - a brand new field - you heard it here first, kids
Do we have a definition for asemiotics? Information is power.
I was hoping someone else could explain it to me.
Damn. And google probably can't handle it. I might try making something up out of nothing overnight. Will let you know the outcome if there is 1.

Nancy, Asemiotics is a new term I made up. Semiotics - semiology - is the study of signs and sign systems; it's used in analysis of lit and art, for instance, So Asemiotics - if it existed - would probably be the study of asemic signs and systems. The Asemic Syntax theme of Ed. 5 seems related to Asemiotics. Both Cheryl and I have gotten an early start on asemic syntax in Ed. 4.

A note on the reason for the constant creation of new jargon here at the IUOMA. I proposed that mail-artists should do as much as they could to flood the world with new jargon and non-existent movements so that it would jam up current cultural discourse, confuse critics and academics totally. Hey, it's worth a try.

The thing is, "a" in front of "semiotics" sends a message of neutral, or neither here nor there. Does that mean no study of signs and no study of systems? If only there weren't the "oti" before the "c"! That's inconvenient. In any case, I do love the asemic syntax theme of #5. So many possibilities.

I'm not sure what to think of your second paragraph. Cultural discourse already seems jammed up to me; many critics seem confused; some academics are lost in their own little worlds, and have been for some time. Actually I'm completely in favor of new jargon if it means something and ultimately can communicate, and SOME of the new jargon encountered here does.

All I can say is that the ultimate result of Asemiotics is Asemioticification.  Its the slight madness that comes about by doing EVERY chapter for EVERY book by hand. I DO hope you'll all at least pay me a visit in my lock-up Asemic Cell.  If you're looking for me it says ex-Boss on the door :-) X

P.S. I am calling my new chapters In Memory of Text.  Its when syntax, systems and semiotics have faded and we are left with nothing but what we USED to be able to read. A full circle.  Its an interesting process to think text just fades when the snake swallows his tail.  Shadow structures for shadow text which has now faded into the shadows of literacy :-) X
