The last time I done a mailart swap like this, it was arranged on Twitter and lasted a month.

During that time, people focussed on making 30 pieces for 30 different people, but mainly everyone stuck to a single theme. I doubt that we'll stick necessarily to our themes for a whole year as these things will evolve over time, but does anyone plan to start off with a theme at least or stick to one style for the whole year? Perhaps Boo Cartledge will do 365 pages of It's only a book"?

Oh gosh! I could never stick to a theme for a whole year. My theme will be complex when I have some time on my hands and very simple on days when I realize at 11:30pm I haven't made todays mailart yet :)
Yeah so true! The theme could be "Guess how much time Jennifer had on her hands today..."
I'm with Camel on this...

There are so many maialrt calls and good causes as well that could benefit from having 15 mailartists descend on them. I would love to be able to pick a few every month, then hold a poll here on IUOMA to decide which mailart call/good cause gets a piece. Wouldn't want to be too prescriptive of course, but just to add a little extra fun to proceedings
Hey, I really like both your ideas. I'm willing to go along with a once a month theme and who doesn't love good causes? I'd like to use mailart for some activism.
You're going to LOVE the next big announcement I will make later this month then JJ...

I intend to be a little cryptic til then but mailart for good causes is the central theme.
oooh goody.....I love anticipation!!
It's like waiting to open a Christmas present -- the anticipation is killing me!

How about a month-long theme of the alphabet? Like each person could choose one letter of the alphabet to inspire their daily illustrations. Or each person could create their own alphabetical list to illustrate. (eg. the vegetable alphabet, etc)
I like that idea. I'd prefer to spend some time with one letter, rather than illustrate the whole alphabet. Do we have 26 members yet? What about Katerina, I'm sure she'd like to represent the Greek alphabet, eh?
I'm happy to use the Greek alphabet but I'll have to learn it first. Got any pointers on the best way to learn Greek Katerina?
Alright- regardless of whether other people want to join in on an alphabet theme, I'm going to plan on doing one during the month of January. I have a super exciting (and super nerdy) project planned - I'm going to illustrate the whole alphabet around a single theme. Much like a ABC book for adults. I just got too excited about it to be able to hold off.
