Hello mail-art friends,

I'm a teacher in an academy of arts in Belgium (Antwerp) and I'm planning to make with the kids (between 6 and 8 years) postcards to send through the wide world. It's to introduce them into another world of art, a form that isn't very commun for kids if they think about art.

The plan is that they will draw draw on one side on the half of the postcard their home/house/ place where they are living and that they leave the other half blank to let fill it up by another person out of another country, a mail-artist. Anyway, the mail-artist could create a drawing or collage or whatever onto the drawing of the child...and doing the same as the kid did on his card : drawing your place/house. that way the artist and the child will create a little neighbourhood with their two houses...will bring two cultures together on a card...and most of all : this action is something very new for the kids and they will be very surprised to see the result.

Who wants to participate in this? Just leave me a message if you want so.

I'm searching like 40 artists, one for every child.

The most important thing is that you will do something on the card of the kid and that it will come back to the kid. I promise you enough pic's of all the results and lots of feedback!

Would be pleased to hear you!

***Kathy

Super Heleen...ik had nog net 1 iemand nodig en dacht : die valt weldra uit de lucht :)
You are in girl...the last one we needed.!!!!
The call for artists is closed from now on! THANK YOU VERY MUCH to everybody who wanted to be part of this. From the frist group there are already cards returning to their senders...from the second group are still three kids who have to sent their card. That will be one for Muriel Frega in Argentina, for Natalya in Russia and the very last one for Heleen in the Netherlands. Those cards normally will be sent on the 13th of november 2010...NOW we have a week of vacation. The kids will reload the batteries...and we go on with our artclasses half of november. For everyone who is working on the card, make some nice thing of it guys, the kids are waiting without patience...:), some cards are still travelling too...
I'm hoping to get all the cards back together on the end of november/beginning of december, at last half december, before the next big christmas-vacation.
Do it well lovely artists...I trust in all of you and I'm looking forward to some news!

Hugs from the teacher :) Kathy
Kathy, I received Mira's lovely piece of mail the end of last week. She did such a great job on her 3-D house! I must say, I had a blast making my 3-D house this weekend :> It is all finished. I wrote a small note to Mira and enclosed the postcard inside a envelope that I made. Tomorrow I will take it to the post office and it will be on its way. Again, I have really enjoyed doing this project....thank you for allowing me to be a part of it. Have a happy day! ~~Linda

You guys and Doggie dog Snooky are such great persons! I'm so curious and hopefully we can discover all next saturday in our next lesson, or the next week...:) You will hear more from me!
Cat-hugs! :)
I would love to be in your class room and see the children as they read and look at their postcards...I love getting mail art from kids, and always try to send them something back, even when it isn't expected....When I was very young, I LOVED getting mail-I had a pen pal for years, and I have always had the love of snail mail and mail art....
Beautiful home from Dorien has arrived! And I shall be sending a "Greek" house in tomorrow's mail!

The "back side" house made from a little box is such a creative idea!
May you have much success with this beautiful project, Kathy...
from "Kathy" Katerina in Greece

Oooh Katerina 'Kathy', fine to see this card posted here. You know...so many kids, a class of 27 and one of 14...I do not remember well every card. If I see this one now I have to think already to the cliche-little-houses of the greek isles...blue and white, no? :) funny that this one arrived at your home. I trust in you and I'm sooo curious to see your art on the card!
I see Dorien back next saturday and I will tell her this! Thanks Katerina...hope we can mail to each other in the future! Thank you so much! You will here more from me of course! Hugs from the northwest! :)
