What happens when you tape 39 cents in postage to an envelope?...

The answer is here: http://www.monkeyfaq.com/mail/index.html

(I won't spoil the answer for you, but it's worth taking a look...)
Another interesting way to "work" the postal system.

Well, this is an interesting thing. Maybe some other mail-artists should try out the same in different countries and report the result. I know I did once receive an envelope with coins on it. But not the complete amount of postage. According to regulations of the Postal Office this if forbidden. But testing the rules is sometimes fun.
Ruud and Roland -- I had never heard of this happening here in the US, but I guess people will try anything once! If a person traveled quite a bit, it would be interesting to see if this idea worked from a variety of other countries/locations...
Why not give it a try. Let's send a piece of mail-art to someone who takes part in this discussion. Document the sending (with the coins). When it arrives or is returned, we document it. If it gets lost. Someone inside the postal system has been lucky (or is just criminal because he steals our postage).

Will try something out for sure and document it here.

The card to me hasn't arrived yet. But this one to Roland looks beatifull

The mail with coins arrived! Seems like no-one even added something to it. Will post it later on my blog and you may expect a surprise in return Jennie!
Roland and Ruud:
Glad to see that your cards made it. The funny thing is, I sent a card to myself as well (here in SF) and it still hasn't arrived yet!
I wonder...
PS: thanks for the mention on your blog Roland!

After Jennie's experiment with the US-coins I will test how the way back works. This card with has 95 eurocent on it will start its travel today. I will see on the IUOMA-platform if the card arrives or not..... The original mail from Jennie that arrived without a problem can be found on: http://iuoma.blogspot.com/2008/12/what-happens-when-you-tape-39-cen...
Great Roland! This way the postal workers really get tempted when the two envelopes with coins go on their way.
I have sent my experiment without a return address. That is tricky since the card with 95 Eurocent can't be returned. But knowing the postal workers here in Holland they can be trusted and they keep their promise (arranged by law) that they have to deliver every mail to the sender....... We will see.....
