Dear Val,

Many thanks for the warm welcome into IUOMA and your detailed letter about how to find my way around here!

My apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

I am really interested in learning more about how Mail art and things at IUOMA works and how and what I can do best to be a part of the same.  As you might have discovered already, I am completely new to mail art as an art form and only came across it as a part of my lessons in an Online course (Introduction to Art: Concepts and Techniques) that I am currently undergoing in Coursera.

I would highly appreciate if you have any other suggestions/advise that I can follow on...I have been through the different tabs of the website and till date have created just 1 piece of mail art.  I would definitely like to exchange some mail art with you. Should I just post my address on the profile page here or send you as a message here? I have updated my profile details.

Hope to get as much involved in IUOMA as possible! Very excited :)

Thanks and regards,

Kaveri

I confess that I interpret reasonably English and so I'm using the google translator ... so sorry something very serious or strange rs in writing, but I am very happy to be participating in this network and would rather start an exchange with you ... I'm doing and I'll send you soon.

Hi Val Herman,

Thank you for the welcome. I shall be sending you something soon! My worry of putting up my snail mail is due to privacy issues in my home country. I do not know how 'safe' it would be to have it available in a public forum. Is there any other way I can share my snail mail address with friends in here and not keep it open?

You asked me "Why Prairie Kittin"? ... The name on my birth certificate is Katherine Prairie. The nickname I've always gone by for Katherine is "Kittin" or "Kat". So, for my online ID, I simply reversed the order. Instead of Kittin Prairie, I go by Prairie Kittin. So, you see, no mystery there. :-)

I would love to receive mail art from you!

PS

I forgot to explain Coursera and MOOC and took the liberty of lifting a bit of Wikipedia's explanation. I hope that doesn't upset any rules or anyone. Basically there are lots of universities offering a wide range of courses online and all for free. Peers assess rather than tutors/lecturers, hence no cost.

Coursera /kɔrsˈɛrə/ is an educational technology company offering massive open online courses (MOOCs) founded by computer scienceprofessors Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller from Stanford University. Coursera works with universities to make some of their courses available online, and offers courses in engineeringhumanitiesmedicinebiologysocial sciencesmathematicsbusinesscomputer science, and other areas.

Cheers

Hi Val

I am very new to mail art and I am very excited to have found you and your site. I am doing an art course through Cousera and have an assignment on mail art to complete. I will post it when I finish it.

I have already encountered one problem of my own making: I can't remember my password. My computer seems to know it but I worry in case I will need it sometime. Can you let me know who to ask please?

I'm looking forward to the connections IUOMA will provide.

Cheers

Michael
