Hello, IUOMA folk. I have a long shot request. I am substitute teaching a K-5 art class in ten days, and then ten days after that, on the 28th of March and the 8th of April, and I am wondering if any of you would mind sending something that could excite children about mail art. I teach frequently, so even if a piece couldn't get here by then, I could show them to the next class. I've been sending mail art out for years, but not to other mail artists (so far), so I rarely get mail art back to show the kids! Just joined this  great network. If you send something, I'll send you something back!

I've been working with these kids for several years and are blown over by their beauty!

Thank you!

Oh, that is USA-sorry!

Angies and Snookie-thanks! I know they will be delighted! Will send you something back!

Jinny

I could send something, though post takes its time to get to the US from here.

Hi Angie and Snooky. I was thinking to get my new puppy to help me with my mail art. He has retrieved the colour pencils that fell behind my bed so maybe he would like to do some painting.

Taidgh, that would be great, anyway! I work with the same group of kids on and off, and almost always drop by when their regular teacher is teaching, so it would be a great follow up. I'm making them a little book about mail art-so hopefully they can join me in my new adventures with IUOMA.

I want to get them psyched about the post!

Jinny

Well I will try my best to get them worked up over mail art. Getting post from such an exotic place like Ireland may pique their interest. :) Good to know the ages. I think I will have an excuse to let loose with the craziness. Not that I ever needed one. It would be interesting to get schools to be involved in a mail art exchange. Mail art in Ireland, though would be a hard one to sell in schools.

Yes! It would! I think it is wonderful for kids to get a feeling that they can reach out, make contact-in a more tangible way that email-to places that seem out of their reach, when their reach can seem so short to them. Thank you, Taidgh!

HI Jinny, I had a mail art call and kids from UK schools sent stuff for it.  I have put the catalog online.  I don't know if it woul d be any help? https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3g5q7Qjx55QVkZCS2txdE1tNkk/edit?us...

Yes, that does help, Rebecca! I'll show them-thanks!

Jinny

Jinny,

How old are the kids?

David

Hello, David! They are k-5, so 5 ish up to 11 ish. I am working on my lesson plan all day today-getting them supplies for artistamps!

I am excited about this-for them, for me!

Jinny

Yes, they are Janine. Mostly girls this time, at least in the younger group-thought there are some boys. . .

Thank you,

Jinny
