Strange to think about the avatar photo. Today I was working on a text piece about one evening I spent with fellow student friends back in 1975. Working at the keyboard I suddenly remembered I made Polaroid portraits that evening, I went into the archive and located them immediately. Amazing to look back at myself across all those years.
Ah! The avatar photo is one of a series I have made with the webcamera attached to my laptop computer. The software is great for real-time image manipulation, I just move around until I get a striking image then click to save the image.
It's probably about time I changed the image buy I do like this one.
This morning I'm listening to Metal! Sister Hazel at the moment that following some Blue Oyster Cult, it's true I love music from Albinoni to Zeppelin, from Bach to Brubeck via Blof and Björk, Adele to James Last.
Grapelli is definately later than the music played on www.dismuke.org 40s and 50s I would think. I have a massive collection of Bing Crosby, dismuke sometimes play tracks from him, his early work is my favourite.
thank you, I will :-) we will be completing Project 26 before beginning the next boo - but will keep you posted. The deadline is 1st March for completion so not too long x
Thank you for the compliment on my artistamps. I'm fairly new to them myself. Just made my first set in January. Now, I'm addicted. :)
I'll send some your way soon so you can see them in person. I've worked the perforation into the design as I still haven't found the perfect solution for actual perforations...
yes, and for this reason I see watching TV as a very passive activity and listening to the radio as being, mentally, an active experience. At the moment I am crazy for the web radio www.dismuke.org/radio which I listen to each morning as I wrestle with the activity of getting my mind into gear.?~)
Ah... that answer related to early mail art exchanges back in the 60s when On Kewara would make a postcard with a time reference on it.
Why have I been an audio artist for the last 50 years (yes I started in 1961!)? It relates to the fact I grew up in days before TV and we used to listen to the radio. I realized long ago that the human imagination creates images from sounds (if we listen to a radio play it is natural to imagine/create an image the physical appearance of the voice actors) and it is that element of the creative process that fascinates me, the artist creates a sound image and the listener creates an image in the imagination.
I have a catalogue of 50 CDs and 30 audio cassettes, you can find a mail art project The VEC Audio Exchange I did between 1978 and 1983 on the VEC website www.vecworldservice.net
Audio is one element of my conceptual art activity.
Hmmmm Rose, I can't really recommend going back to that time, pizza hadn't been invented and the air smelled terrible... however it is no longer necessary to step into that time machine... I was there for you, please see my video:
No secret to the high gloss front - Just printing on high quality photostock paper. I'm using "HP Advanced Photo Paper" for inkjet. But I use just about brand as long as it is the high quality (Thicker gel surface and will not fade away). Now, you alone know my secret!
Thanks for your comments about the audio work, glad you enjoyed it. It was the audio element of an art performance I did two years ago in a wine cellar under Maastricht, because the space was small and the audience large I had to repeat the performance 6 times, this is the installation as was before I began:
Sounds great Rose. I'll be looking forward to that - let's keep an exchange. By the way - I'm printing both sides of that card with that old HP1210. I'm going to have a fit when it finally goes. I keep my fingers crossed whenever I use it!
Right now, I'm using an old HP 1210 all-in-one inkjet, but getting decent results. I am a big fan of the laser printer though - wish I had one. Everything okay lately? I saw your note to everybody. Seems like you have cooled down. I can see that that may have spooked you, but is actually rather common here. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this place.
Hi, tomorrow I will visit Hedah and make a list of all the many works that have already arrived and then post it here. The webmasters, Inge and Torsten, intend to scan all works received and place them on the webpage but at the moment they are busy with other elements of the exhibition.
