Thank you for your advice, very much appreciated, although I must add that I am concentrating completely on the art and I never compromise my creativity for the sake of commercialism. Sure on my website I offer some work for sale (as do you) but this is only done as a means to support my creativity. Anyone is very welcome to partake in my latest project and receive some free artwork. However some people out there are not mail artists and may be more interested in simply buying some work or helping to support my material costs.
As for the 'security' theme of my latest work, this is my artistic take on the security industry informed by my experience as a security guard based in an art studio. It's not meant to be taken completely seriously and my humour is rather tongue in cheek.
I would a shame if I were to get banned from IUOMA as I am truly interested in international creative exchanges and I see mail art as one way of giving something back to the world in which I'm fortunate enough to practice something that I love.
I hope you understand, and thank you for your time.
Well, I didn't find it per se....I made it up...The actual album is a very funny Mantovani record which seems to be inhabited by miniaturized people. And yes, there is a record inside which you should be able to access by taking an exacto knife and running it neatly down the edge. Alas, it's not Abbe Lane but I'll let you discover what it is on your own. Abbe Lane, btw, is still alive as far as I know. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I hope the exhibition was a big success.
Ha ha ha! I thought You mad a joke about the African Reserve but when googling it up.......hmm...or did You just make that internetsite while writing to me?! ;)
Now... off to the drawing table. (It turned out that the bikers were just a three year old boy waiting outside with his tricycle bike, probably smelled the newly baked cinnamon rolls from our appartment)
The bikers were gone this morning, I thought they were a threat from Arty slides int. but I was wrong, they just got the wrong house, those bikers are also opponents to modern technology and hence do not have a gps.
I have seen Your house in Sigean on photos, where do You keep all the goats, sheeps and camels?
Something as a trade is posted. (I know I did not have to but it is more fun that way)
I would give You the Kingdom (of Sweden) if I could but I wan't to give You a "surprise". And it is not even a ticket to the next Nobel Price banquet but a much more humble trade than that. Your Ferrari is orange, that I have seen on pictures and much more lovelier than it's Italian brother. I am glad for any slides so You choose, everything is a challenge though a paper slide... ;)
I will show You the Cancellator within a week....
The Best to You,
Nik
p.s. I'll be in the Carousel so please tell the biker-gorillas that stands outside my frontdoor to go away!!!!!
I have a proposition. I have a hard time finding slides. Do You have 4 slides that I can trade with You? What do You wan't in return? I have old old old Swedish stamps and a cool authentic cancellator (I know it is not the proper word for it but a better one that I propose everyone should call these so callet cachet's or whatever).
Bravo, Val, excellent exhibit and your display is marvelous!
I understand that you a busy with this exhibit, but still...
The Presidential Guard is coming ("foustenella" and pom-poms and all),wanting to be a member of the Val Lino Prints Fan Club. Actually, you did receive several envelopes for Sigean Summer, a Greek Red Cap, and a 1001 special card...what more can i send to qualify for a few dozen lino prints ? (marked, numbered and dated, of course).
Will humbly appreciate any fine lino print you may send, My Dear Valentine xxx
This just proves that great minds think alike! I'd already jotted down your address and had begun to plot out your piece! Probably won't go out until next week, but rest assured, it will be on its way shortly!
Very Nice!!! Congrats my friend, the panels look wonderful!!! Nice job Val or is it "Mark" now!!!?!!! I will of course be sending my 1 envelope to cover my fine that was halfed and a couple extras to cover any future transgressions although I hope to not have any or at least not too many ;) xoxo
Yes, I think there is something more inside that second envelope, though I'm guessing it is just a wee note. Thanks for the London ideas, there are a couple on that list I didn't think of. I'm also adding the Royal College of Surgeons to the tours, but probably not before we eat. Eek.
Glad to see you got #966...and don't worry, I will not "retire" from mail art. I have already sent out #1001 ...and a few more "beyond 1001"...so I continue at a merry pace. Now, however I stop numbering. Amen. Just making :-)
Best of success with your exhibit...don't work too hard. enjoy! xxx
Have I thanked you for your most recent mail gift? I hope so, because the southern belle in my brain spanks me when I forget. And she's really strong, so it hurts. So Thank you! Also, I'll be visiting London in May with my parents. We are calling this (our third or forth trip to London) our Nerd Pilgrimage. We will be spending lots of time in museums and libraries. Any suggestions you might have would be amazing. For example, we want to see William Morris' home and the museum of science and nature. We have already done the main tourist things, so this trip is really all about the British Museum and the National collections, as well as Soane's collections though they may be small. Just wondering if you have any wisdom.
