Please accept my apologies for the recent slow down in my documentation of our WTJ (by US Postal Mail!) collaborative art project. I've got a lot of very awesome art from a number of super cool, fun artists to share with everyone! Today I'm sharing the groovy art of SaraMarie Bottaro!
Pages 19 - 23 were mailed back to Minneapolis on January 19th, 2022 wrapped like the gift they are!
I love this dark blue patterned paper and am so glad it came through the mail safe and sound!
The Wreck This Journal pages themselves came wrapped in a piece of sketchbook paper with this art:
It makes me think of sound waves, planets, ripples in time, ripples in the ocean and a couple of beautiful sunsets, personally. It makes me feel absolutely meditative.
On Page 17, SaraMarie gets into a serious grove with the "Fill this page with circles" prompt. It feels organic and alive to me, filled with energy and motion! Hungry for more? Try page 18!
Thai fried rice looks delicious! Do you love the illustration? I do!
In continuation of the hungry theme, SaraMarie takes a nice bite (or a good long chew) on the page 19 as well! Thirsty yet?
Don't worry, page 20 brings us a good thirst quencher and the memory of grade school it conjures in our artists mind.
Page 21 makes me think of a drone image of grasslands, fields and forests with shadowed topography.
Page 22, folded up as an airplane, says "I don't go fast or far, but don't give up." This reminds me of so many of the beater cars I've been through in my lifetime..
Don't miss out on that gorgeous monogram, everyone!
Page 23's instructions are to use the paper to wrap something, but first our artist covers it in beautiful ginko leaf images that overlap each other - which is a gorgeous idea for wrapping paper, don't you agree?
Check out what page #23 is wrapped around! There's a painting planning thumbnail and a little bit of white gouache for painting with!
Thank you so much for your contributions to the Wreck this Journal (by US Postal Mail!) collaborative art project, SaraMarie! This has been so fun to explore and share!
